Warwickshire Women defeated Yorkshire Women by 57 runs in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup. The match took place on 19 August 2026 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Warwickshire batted first and scored 269 in their 50 overs, losing nine wickets. The match was then stopped by rain, and Yorkshire were given a revised target of 260 from 46 overs.
Yorkshire fell short of this target with 202 runs all out after 40.5 overs. Meg Austin anchored the Warwickshire innings with a remarkable 94 runs, while Em Arlott put in an explosive all-round effort with bat and ball to guide her team to a comfortable victory.
Warwickshire Set Strong Total with Bat
Warwickshire won the toss and chose to bat first in the cloudy Birmingham skies. But the team got an early setback in the eighth over. Meg Austin’s ambitious single to run out her opening partner Davina Perrin for 15 runs was a risk that backfired. The wicket came from a good throw from Alice Clarke. But Austin scored 60 runs for the partnership with captain Katie George. George hit 27 from 51 balls before being caught by Erin Thomas off the bowling of Claudie Cooper.
Later, debutant overseas signing Brooke Halliday came to the crease to join Austin. The pair added 84 runs in 13 overs. Austin fell six runs short of a century when she hit a return catch back to bowler Jessica Woolston. In her fine knock of 114 off 114 balls, she hit nine fours.
Yorkshire’s Claudie Cooper bowled exceptionally well to slow the scoring rate, taking four wickets for 55 runs. She bowled Halliday for 37, and stumped Charis Pavely for 18 runs.

Em Arlott Ignites Late Fireworks
Warwickshire needed quick runs in the final overs to boost their total. Emily Arlott stepped up and smashed a rapid 44 runs from just 19 balls. She attacked the Yorkshire bowlers directly, hitting five boundaries and clearing the rope for two sixes. Arlott scored at an incredible strike rate of 231.58.
Her cameo ended when wicketkeeper Lauren Winfield-Hill stumped her off the bowling of Jess Jonassen. Nonetheless, her efforts successfully lifted Warwickshire to a highly competitive score of 269 for nine. Kalis and Campbell Fight Back

Sterre Kalis and Ami Campbell attempted to rescue the run chase with an aggressive middle-order partnership. Campbell brought energy to the crease by smashing 35 runs off just 20 balls, including three massive sixes. However, her cameo ended when she skied a ball from Phoebe Brett to Brooke Halliday.
Meanwhile, Kalis played a much more structured innings and reached a well-deserved half-century off 66 balls. She eventually scored 52 runs from 71 deliveries, hitting six fours.
Arlott returned to the attack and bowled a clever slower ball to trap Kalis lbw, which effectively ended Yorkshire’s hopes of victory. Phoebe Brett wrapped up the tail and finished with figures of three wickets for 59 runs. Charis Pavely claimed the final wicket by bowling Hannah Rainey, which bowled Yorkshire out for 202.
Impact on the One-Day Cup Table
Warwickshire has now won six of their 12 matches and are placed third in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup points table with 26 points. This puts them in prime position to qualify for the tournament.
Yorkshire’s loss leaves them in a tough spot. They are currently placed eighth on the table with just 13 points from 11 matches. Yorkshire now have to win their five remaining group games to keep their hopes of qualification alive.
