Rohit Sharma record list has rewritten batting records across formats and also transformed him into a shrewd leader. In the last decade, he smashed the highest individual ODI score, owns multiple double‑centuries, and leads all T20I scorers.

And most significantly, under Sharma’s captaincy, India finally ended their ICC trophy drought with the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy.

This paper follows the list of records of Rohit Sharma, both as a player in terms of his entire batting records and as a captain in terms of his records and milestones.

Rohit Sharma: Career Overview and Records

Rohit Sharma is among the most productive batsmen and most successful captains in all forms in India, whose explosive strike play earned him the name of the Hitman. He has a 15-year-long career with record-breaking innings and leadership victories.

Debut and Early Career

On June 23, 2007, Rohit debuted in ODI with Ireland and T2I with England on September 19, 2007, and Test with West Indies on November 6, 2013. He had indicated his talent in his early ODI performances, but could not maintain it.

The initial IPL experience was with the Deccan Chargers in 2008, where he managed to form his aggressive style of batting. He further achieved a match-winning Test hundred during his debut, although his tours to South Africa and Australia were difficult for the young batsman.

Rise to Prominence

The breakthrough of Rohit was that he made a series of ODI double-centuries, a feat never achieved in the history of cricket. His first 200, 209 against Australia in 2013, was succeeded by two more, making him a world-class opener. Further bringing him among the highest scorers in the ODI.

He also played important parts during this time as the vice-captain on such tours as the 2020-21 Australia Test series and the 2021 England series, as his heavy scoring cemented his place at the top of the order.

Moreover, he has been involved in crucial innings in all T20 World Cups he played since 2007, which has seen the value of his being a match-winner in all formats.

Captaincy Journey

In 2013, Rohit assumed the leadership of the Mumbai Indians and helped the team to win five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. He had 87 wins out of 158 matches, giving him a win rate of 55.06% second only to MS Dhoni amongst long-serving IPL captains. To India, he was called the captain of all formats in 2022 following the tenure of Virat Kohli.

During his tenure, India was the winner of the T20 World Cup in 2024, with 49 T20I matches having been won out of a total of 62 T20I matches, giving it a win rate of 79.03. Rohit was also the captain of the Indian Test team, where he served for three years until he retired from the format in May 2025.

In international cricket, he has captained India in 142 games, in which he has won 104 matches, and the win rate is 73.23, the highest among Indian captains with over 50 games.

It was an unbroken blow at Eden Gardens, where India had 33 fours and 9 sixes that had propelled India to 404/5. It is still the highest personal ODI score.
