What is Duck in Cricket?
Duck in cricket is a relative form of when a batter is dismissed without making any runs. The same term duck is used for both the men’s and women’s cricket batters when they are dismissed.
It doesn’t matter whether you are dismissed for 0 in the first ball, second ball, or any other balls; getting out on zero is always called duck. There are 10 types of ducks when we talk about cricket.

Golden Duck
The first type of duck in cricket is called the golden duck. It is when a batter is dismissed on the very first ball delivered and does not score any run. This is the most common type of duck out in cricket.
Diamond Duck
When a player gets dismissed without even facing a single ball, it is called a diamond duck. This is possible through runout.
But there could be another scenario as well when a batsman hits a delivered ball, and let’s say that ball touches the crease and lands in the hand of the bowler, and they throw the ball and dismiss the non-striker of the two is another possible scenario.
Golden Goose Duck
Golden Goose Duck is a very interesting type of duck. When a batter is dismissed off the very first ball, in the very first match of the very first season for zero, it is called the golden goose duck.
Titanium Duck
Titanium duck is similar to golden duck but there is a slight difference to it. Any batter who gets dismissed for zero on the very first ball of the team’s inning is called the titanium duck.
Silver Duck
Any batter who gets out for zero after facing two balls into their batting innings is called a silver duck. Without a doubt, it’s not a great way to be dismissed.
Bronze Duck
As we say, the bronze medal for the person who comes third is similar to the case with the bronze duck. A batter who is dismissed off the 3rd ball faced and doesn’t score a single run is called a bronze duck.
Royal or Platinum Duck
Platinum or the royal duck is only applicable to the batter who opens the batting for the side. If you are opening the batting and get out on the very first ball, this is called the royal or platinum duck.
Laughing Duck
As we discussed earlier, platinum duck applies only to the opening batter; here, a laughing duck can be achieved only during the last ball of the innings.
Batters who come to bat in the last ball of the innings and get out for a duck are called laughing ducks.
Pair Duck
Pair duck is only possible in long-format cricket, like test match cricket. In test matches, the batter gets an opportunity to bat twice in the same match.
If the batter gets dismissed in both innings without opening their run account, this is called a pair duck.
King Pair Duck
This mode of duck out is also present only in test cricket. Talking about King Pair Duck, a batter who gets out on 0 for both innings and that too on the very first ball, this is called King Pair Duck.
