Double Century in Women’s ODI Cricket

In 1997, Belinda Clark set the record for the first double century in women’s ODI cricket. She smashed an unbeaten 229 runs off 155 balls against Denmark during the ICC Women’s World Cup. This record was unbeaten for nearly two decades.

More recently, Amelia Kerr from New Zealand entered the leaderboard with a brilliant 232 not out against Ireland in 2018. She became the youngest player to score a double century in ODI history (both men and women). These records show us the evolution of batting power in women’s cricket.

Amit Mishra’s Take

Meg Lanning’s long-standing dominance with the most centuries in women’s cricket, Deandra Dottin’s unforgettable fastest ODI century, and Amelia Kerr’s record-breaking double century show that women’s cricket is filled with batting brilliance. These achievements are more than just numbers; they are signs reflecting how far women’s cricket has come and how much further it can go. Hopefully, with the emerging new talents, more records will be set. No matter the scale of evolution, the legacy of these record-setters will remain untouched.
