England Women ended their three-match T20I series against India with a six-wicket victory in the last game of the series at Taunton on 2 June 2026. England completed the task in 18.3 overs, winning the game by six wickets with nine balls to spare. The result handed England a 2-1 series victory heading into the T20 World Cup.
Alice Capsey was named Player of the Match and Player of the Series for her efforts across the three games. Her knock of 82 off 43 balls in the decider was the standout performance of the night.
Capsey and Knight Build Match-Winning Partnership
England were in trouble at 38 for 3 when Capsey and Heather Knight came together in the middle. What followed was one of England’s best fourth-wicket stands in recent T20I cricket. The two put on 137 runs off just 76 balls to completely turn the match around.
Capsey reached her fifty off only 27 balls, hitting seven fours and one six along the way. She then shifted gears further, smashing three boundaries off a single Shree Charani over in the 16th. Her innings ended at 82 when she was caught at short third attempting a ramp off Arundhati Reddy. By that point, the game was already done.
Knight, who had not crossed 25 in five previous T20I innings this summer, reached her fifty off 31 balls. She finished unbeaten on 70 off 42, hitting ten fours and sealing the win with a boundary through backward square off Deepti Sharma. It was the form return England needed at exactly the right moment, with the T20 World Cup starting in Birmingham on June 12.

India Fought Hard But Fell Short
India posted 180 for 5 in their 20 overs, a score that looked competitive on paper. The innings was built around Harmanpreet Kaur, who came in with her side at 60 for 3 in the seventh over and finished unbeaten on 56 off 40 balls. Remarkably, it was her first T20I half-century against England in her career.
Yastika Bhatia contributed 32 off 18 balls before being run out by a sharp piece of fielding from Sophie Ecclestone at the covers. Jemimah Rodrigues made 29 before being bowled by a slower ball from Lauren Bell. Deepti Sharma chipped in with 32 off 24 lower down the order, putting on 67 with Harmanpreet for the fifth wicket. Bell finished with two wickets, as did Linsey Smith and Charlie Dean with one each.
England Head Into World Cup on a High
Kranti Gaud was India’s standout bowler, taking two wickets, including the key scalp of Danni Wyatt-Hodge early on. Arundhati Reddy also picked up two, removing both Sophia Dunkley and Capsey. But India’s bowling attack could not contain the Capsey-Knight stand once it got going.
For England, the series win provides a real confidence boost. Questions remain around Dunkley’s form and the returning Nat Sciver-Brunt’s place in the lineup, but a series win over a strong India side is the best possible preparation. The T20 World Cup begins on June 12 in Birmingham, and England now go in as a team with momentum behind them.
