England Announce Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Squad

England have officially named their 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, with all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt confirmed as captain. The tournament begins on June 12 at Edgbaston, with England hosting the event on home soil for the first time since their 2009 title win.

Charlie Dean will make her first appearance in an international squad as Sciver-Brunt’s number two, while fast bowler Lauren Bell will lead the bowling. The team was unveiled on April 28, head coach Charlotte Edwards saying the selection process had been one of the hardest she has ever been engaged in.

“The waiting and wondering is over,” Edwards said. “There is no doubt that it has been incredibly tough to get to these 15 names. This is the hardest set of selection meetings I have been a part of because the pool of players to choose from is so strong.”

Uncapped Teenager Tilly Corteen-Coleman Gets the Call

The headline selection in the squad is uncapped 18-year-old Surrey spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman, who has received a maiden T20 World Cup call-up alongside Warwickshire’s Issy Wong and Durham’s Lauren Filer.

Corteen-Coleman first came to notice when she bowled four wickets in four balls for South East Stars at 16 years of age in the 2024 Charlotte Edwards Cup, and has established herself as a valuable player in The Hundred for Southern Brave.

England have three left-arm spinners in the squad, Corteen-Coleman, Sophie Ecclestone and Linsey Smith, to have a range of spin bowlers for the competition.

Sarah Glenn missed the squad due to injury (broken finger), and veteran Tammy Beaumont was excluded.

Experience at the Top, Youth in Support

England’s squad leans heavily on experience. Sciver-Brunt will be participating in her seventh T20 World Cup, bringing considerable big-tournament knowledge to the captaincy role.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who recently turned 35 and has been in fine form, is set to feature in her eighth tournament edition, making her one of the most experienced players at the event globally.

Head coach Charlotte Edwards, who captained England in their victorious 2009 T20 World Cup campaign — also held in England — will have more than 960 caps worth of T20 international experience to pick from during the tournament.

Sciver-Brunt expressed confidence in the group ahead of the competition. “We have a fantastic group of players who I know are putting their heart and soul into achieving our goal,” she said.

England’s Group Stage Draw and Pre-Tournament Schedule

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 runs from June 12 to July 5 and will be the tenth edition of the tournament. It will also be the first to feature an expanded format, with 12 teams competing across 33 matches over a month.

England will play in Group 2, alongside West Indies, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Scotland, and will kick off their campaign with Sri Lanka at Edgbaston on June 12.

England will warm up for the event with a series against New Zealand and India. Sophia Dunkley, Charlie Dean and Danni Wyatt-Hodge will rest to manage workloads.
