India beat Pakistan by 58 runs at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Sunday to reach the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 semi-finals. The five-time champions stayed unbeaten through the Super Sixes stage. Pakistan got knocked out after failing to chase down the target in time.
India made 252 all out in 49.5 overs after winning the toss and choosing to bat. Pakistan replied with 194 all out in 46.2 overs. Vedant Trivedi top-scored with 68 runs off 98 balls for India. Captain Ayush Mhatre took three wickets for 21 runs with the ball to seal the win.
Vedant Trivedi Anchors India’s 252
India lost three early wickets and stood at 47 for three. Trivedi walked in and steadied things alongside Vihaan Malhotra. The two added 62 runs for the fourth wicket. Trivedi hit steady boundaries and rotated strike well through the middle overs.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave India a boost with 30 runs off just 22 balls. He smashed five fours and one six before getting out. Kanishk Chouhan added 35 runs off 29 balls lower down the order. The final four overs brought 39 runs as India pushed past 250.
Pakistan bowler Abdul Subhan took three wickets for 33 runs. Mohammad Sayyam also picked up wickets, but India kept finding partnerships. The 252 total looked competitive on a surface that offered some help to bowlers, building on momentum from India’s 2026 U19 World Cup squad announcement earlier in the tournament.
Pakistan Collapses After Strong Start

Pakistan needed to chase the target in 33.4 overs to top the group on net run rate. That created pressure from ball one. They got off to a decent start, reaching 56 for one in the powerplay. Usman Khan and Hamza Zahoor built a partnership that took them to 151 for three in 30 overs.
Usman Khan made 66 runs off 92 balls with seven fours. Zahoor added 42 runs off 49 balls. At 151 for three, Pakistan needed just 102 runs off 120 balls with seven wickets left. The match looked set for a tight finish.
India’s bowlers had other plans. Ayush Mhatre broke the partnership by getting Zahoor out. Khilan Patel joined the attack and grabbed three wickets for 35 runs. The last seven wickets fell quickly for just 43 runs. Pakistan collapsed from a winning position to 194 all out.
Henil Patel got Sameer Minhas out leg before wicket early in the chase. Mhatre’s three wickets in the middle and death overs turned the match India’s way. Kanishk Chouhan won Player of the Match for his 35 runs and tight bowling that went for just 30 runs in 10 overs.

India Face Afghanistan in Harare
India topped the Super Sixes group and will play Afghanistan in the semi-final on Wednesday, February 4, in Harare. The other semi-final sees Australia take on England in Bulawayo on Tuesday, February 3. India didn’t have to play Australia because they came in first in their group.
The five-time champions haven’t lost a game yet in this tournament. Mhatre, Patel, and Chouhan all take wickets often, so their bowling attack looks strong. The batting order showed depth with contributions coming from different players throughout the Super Sixes stage, similar to their earlier performance against South Africa U19 before the tournament began.
Pakistan came into this match needing a quick chase to overtake India on net run rate. The 33.4 over requirement meant they had to score at over seven runs per over from the start. That put them under pressure even when wickets were in hand. Once Zahoor got out at 151, the asking rate climbed too high.
India’s fielding stayed sharp through both innings. They gave away very few extras and held their catches. The bowling changes worked well with Mhatre bringing himself on at key moments. Patel’s three wickets broke the back of Pakistan’s middle and lower order.
India has a good chance of making it to another final after their semi-final against Afghanistan. Afghanistan made it through by coming in second in the other Super Sixes group. India will be the favourite because they haven’t lost yet and have played well in all three areas: batting, bowling, and fielding. For more Under-19 World Cup coverage and updates, follow Jeetwin Sports.
