India Under-19 started their World Cup campaign with a six-wicket win over USA Under-19 at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Wednesday. Rain interrupted the match and reduced it to 37 overs per side.
India won the toss and put the USA into bat first. Right-arm pacer Henil Patel grabbed five wickets to bowl out the USA for just 107 runs. This was the first five-wicket haul of the tournament. Rain came after the USA’s innings, and the target was revised to 96 runs under the DLS method.
Henil Patel Wrecks USA Batting
Henil Patel took three wickets in his opening spell to put the USA on the back foot early. The USA batters could not handle his pace and bounce. He came back later to clean up the tail and finished with figures of 5 wickets.
Deepesh Devendran, Ambarish RS, Khilan Patel, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi picked up one wicket each. The USA’s top order collapsed, and the middle order offered little fight. Getting bowled out for 107 in 37 overs showed how much they struggled against quality bowling.
India’s Chase Gets Shaky Start
India lost three early wickets and slipped to 25/3 while chasing 96. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got out to Ritvik Appidi. Mhatre and Trivedi also fell quickly. The USA bowlers created some pressure with early breakthroughs.

India face Bangladesh Under-19 in their next Group A match on Saturday at the same venue. Bangladesh reached the U19 Asia Cup final recently and will test India properly. The USA plays New Zealand Under-19 on Sunday, looking for their first win.
