A lot of cricket fans might not have heard about Jacob Duffy. It is due to the fact that he has played limited games for the Kiwis. Interestingly, at present, Jacob Duffy becomes the number 1 bowler in T20I cricket.
This ranking push is majorly due to his brilliant performances against Pakistan in the recently concluded T20I series. The rise of the superstar is something to discuss.
Jacob Duffy Becomes Number 1 Bowler in T20I
It won’t be a mistake to say that Jacob Duffy has been the difference between the two sides. An ability to bowl fast and pressure the batting lineup makes Duffy special.
With the key performance in the T20I series, Duffy has reached the number 1 bowler’s ranking. He has just pushed out Akeal Hosein to rise to the top of the ladder.
Hosein had 707 points while Duffy put through 723 points. In the list dominated by the spinners, Duffy is the only pacer besides Arshdeep in the top 10 rankings.
A Brilliant Series Against Pakistan
The 30-year-old fast bowler from New Zealand was the difference between the two sides. He played the 5 match series and picked up 13 wickets, with an average of 8.38.
Moreover, he was able to bowl with fire and steam in the T20I series. As a result, Duffy held the number 1 position for the very first time and also any Kiwi bowler since Ish Sodhi in 2018.

New Zealand Players Enjoy the T20I Series
When the series between Pakistan and New Zealand was announced, fans claimed that it was a B series with second hand players. But Pakistan could hardly make an impact.
Other than Jacob Duffy, the batters also had the day out. Tim Seifert, the player of the series, was outstanding with the opening slot and the bat in hand.
In total, the right hander made 249 runs in the 5-match series with an average of 62.25. Such dominance against the high-quality Pakistani bowling attack.
The best score for Tim in the series came in the last match with 97*. With the bat in hand, it was the 30-year-old Tim Seifert who made the difference.
Tim Seifert Pushes the Rankings
Not only Jacob Duffy, but also Tim Seifert did better with the rankings. For the stellar form he has been in, Tim has pushed the T20I batting rankings.
Before the start of the series, Tim was placed at number 13, but he jumped five places to reach number 8. His total of 708 rating points means that he is just behind Pathum Nissanka.
