Similarly, Rovman Powell stayed at the opposite end for an explosive partnership. He made 59 runs off 35 balls. He built crucial support for Hetmyer and added a century partnership. Sherfane Rutherford (31* off 13) and Romario Shepherd (21 off 10) proved to be explosive finishers who helped to accelerate the scores over 200 in the death overs. 

From the very beginning, the West Indies maintained a required run rate of over 12 runs per over, and they sustained it with ruthless hitting and aggressive intent. The lineup’s explosiveness was evident in the final total of 254/6, which included 19 sixes.

To guarantee a spot in the semifinals, India must now win both of its remaining Super 8 matches (against West Indies and Zimbabwe) by substantial margins following this defeat. 

India cannot afford to lose either remaining matches and must aim for a high-scoring game. Even if they win both games, they need huge victories because of their negative NRR. Their qualification for the semifinals also depends on other results, such as South Africa beating West Indies to improve their chances.
