The stage is being set for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England. As 12 of the best women’s teams in the shortest format compete it out, the ICC has shared out the details about the venue and what to expect further.
The tournament will start in June, and run for 24 days, with the final to be played on 5th July at Lord’s.
Venues for Women’s T20 World Cup 2026
For the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, the schedule for locations has been released by the ICC. A total of 7 stadiums have been selected for the mega event, with Lord’s hosting the all-important finals. The other 6 stadiums for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 are:
- Edgbaston
- Hampshire Bowl
- Headingley
- Old Trafford Cricket Ground
- Bristol Cricket Ground
- The Oval
ICC Chairman Jay Shah’s View About the Tournament
It was evident that the chairman of the ICC Board, Jay Shah, was more than pleased that the tournament was finally coming to life. Addressing the media, Shah said that the venue selection is a massive step towards the buildup for the tournament.

This particular tournament is bound to bring in the world’s finest players in a celebration of skill, spirit, and sportsmanship.
Shah also clarified that the UK will be the perfect location for the event as there exists cultural acceptance, and cricket-loving people’s number is quite huge. The finals of the 2017 Women’s T20 World Cup seem to be the perfect example of that.
Jay Shah, the chairman, stated that the preparations are in full flow and the T20 tournament will bring together plenty of fans. Shah also emphasised the fact that this tournament might act as a stepping stone for cricket’s return to the LA Olympics in 2028.
Women’s T20 World Cup Teams
For the first time, 12 teams will compete for the final trophy — a significant expansion from previous editions, where the lineup never quite reached this mark.
The host of the tournament, England, directly qualifies for the tournament. Besides, the team that finished in the top 5 during the 2024 also make it into the tournament.
Similarly, 2 teams who are placed well in the ICC T20I ranking also get to play the tournament. Finally, 4 teams will be selected from the T20 World Cup Qualifier, which gives structure to the tournament.
The selected teams will be joined by 4 different teams following the completion of the qualifier. Until now, the confirmed 8 teams include:

- India
- New Zealand
- South Africa
- West Indies
- Pakistan
- Sri Lanka
