Abishek Porel Personal Life

Abishek Porel, a left-hand wicketkeeper-batsman from India, is one of the young and emerging players.

Famously known for hitting big sixes and smashing runs in a crucial situation, he has played several domestic matches for the Bengal team and the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

What does his life have to offer millions of young cricketers worldwide?

Early Life and Background

Born on 17 October 2002 in Chandannagar, West Bengal, India, Abishek was brought up in an environment where cricket was loved and worshiped. His love for sports can be seen from the early stages of his life when he played different sports like football, tennis, and cricket.

Abishek’s parents took him to the National Sporting Club in Chandernagore to train under the professional Pradip Mondal.

Porel joined another coaching center at Deshbandhu Park, opened by Utpal Chatterjee, where he trained alongside his cousin, Ishan Porel.

IPL Career

Abishek Porel’s IPL Career is as interesting as his cricketing journey. He was named as a replacement for Rishab Pant in IPL 2023, as Pant had a road accident that year. In the debut match against Gujarat Titans, Porel smashed 20 runs off 11 balls, including 2 sixes. By then, he had been part of the Delhi Capitals squad.

It was no surprise that he was retained by Delhi Capitals in the 2024 IPL Season, and Porel paid the debt by hitting 360 runs with a strike rate of 152.54 in only 12 innings. As a power hitter, he smashed 36 boundaries alone in that particular season.

Personal Life and Interests

Abishek Porel’s life is interesting as well; he is very humble and sticks to his roots.

To keep his game on top, he has his fitness routine. Furthermore, he encourages others to be involved in any activities that involve body movement. He is actively involved in social work and motivates young cricketers with the lessons that he got early in his career.

Porel is also a dog lover; he has two dogs and believes that the animals are the ones who teach him humility and loyalty.
