Delhi’s Fourth Straight Playoff Appearance
Delhi Capitals qualified for the playoffs in all four WPL seasons since the tournament started. They have reached the Eliminator or better each time, but never won the title. This will be their fourth attempt at breaking that streak.
The Eliminator takes place on Tuesday againstthe Gujarat Giants at the same venue in Vadodara. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are already through to the final, scheduled for Thursday. The winner of Tuesday’s Eliminator will face RCB for the championship, building on lessons from their earlier campaign, where they faced both teams during the group stage.
The Mumbai Indians needed Delhi to lose this match to stay alive. The result ended their tournament. UP Warriorz finished last in the league standings. Their campaign ended with this loss.
Wolvaardt’s 47 runs came off just 36 balls with seven fours. She looked in good touch after those early dropped catches. Shafali’s 29 runs gave Delhi the platform they needed. The middle order collapse made things tight, but Jemimah’s experience saw them through.
Kapp’s three wickets broke the back of UP Warriorz batting. Henry got Lanning’s first ball put them on the back foot immediately. The UP skipper walked back without facing a proper delivery. Deepti tried to rebuild but lacked support from the other end.
Delhi’s bowling unit worked well together. No bowler went for too many runs. The fielding stayed sharp through both innings. UP Warriorz could not build partnerships at any stage of their innings. That cost them the match.
