The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Google have announced a partnership for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Google Gemini will serve as the Official AI Fan Companion, and Google Pixel will be the Official Smartphone. This collaboration will use Google’s AI technology to enhance fan engagement during the tournament.
ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta added that the technology and AI-based collaboration with Google will enhance fan engagement and bring cricket closer to people around the world.
He mentioned that this joint venture unites two global organizations, sharing a consumer-centric, scale-focused, purpose-driven, and innovation-oriented approach. Google’s experience in connection, search, discovery, and AI aligns with the ICC’s mission to provide better services to fans, offering engaging experiences across many platforms.
He went on to add that, combined, we will embrace technology to enhance interaction and experiences, and make cricket more approachable and meaningful to fans worldwide.
Similarly, VP of Marketing at Google India, Shekar Khosla, declared that Google will employ Gemini AI and Pixel technology in the ICC Men 2026 T20 World Cup to create a more creative and engaging experience for digital-first cricket fans.
He stated, “We were excited to see during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 how AI can enhance the fan experience. Now, as we strengthen our partnership with the ICC for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, we will combine Gemini’s creative capabilities with Pixel’s imaging to offer features that give fans new ways to express their creativity and celebrate. We look forward to seeing how these innovations allow a new generation of digital-first fans to enjoy cricket.”
How Gemini Is Transforming the Cricket Fan Experience
Through the partnership, Gemini is set to launch a “Craziest Fan Kaun” contest, where fans would have the opportunity to create their own custom Crazy Fan avatars with the aid of Gemini’s image generation tools that use Nano Banana. The winners will be invited to one of the matches of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, dressed in their AI-designed outfits.
Similarly, Google has had an addition of a special tab to explore cricket on the Gemini application home screen. This tab will feature unique content related to the World Cup that updates weekly, including explanations of cricket rules, the DLS system, quizzes about the ICC T20 World Cup, and challenges such as guessing the player and designing a new cricket format.
Gemini will also develop Insight Cards that are online snapshots of trivia, career milestones, and player statistics compiled via the Web. Such cards are supposed to be shared on social media

Pixel to Capture and Share the Best of the T20 World Cup
As the Official Smartphone, Google Pixel is set to capture stadium views with its advanced camera technology, including a 48MP 5x telephoto lens and impressive video capabilities. Such images and videos will be presented both within stadiums and on social media.
According to the companies, it will be only the initial step, and additional AI-based fan engagement features are in the pipeline as the tournament approaches.

Why This Partnership Matters Now
The ICCโs partnership with Google comes at a crucial time, ahead of the Menโs T20 World Cup 2026. By securing a technology partner early, the ICC can gradually introduce AI-driven fan engagement features. This approach shapes how audiences interact with the tournament on digital platforms.
The timing also reflects a broader industry trend, with major sports organizations focusing on mobile-first, AI-powered experiences to attract younger audiences. This move indicates the ICCโs intention to modernize fan engagement beyond traditional broadcasts and stadium attendance.
Why Gemini and Pixel Fit the Tournament
Gemini and Pixel closely match the ICC’s evolving digital strategy for global tournaments. Gemini’s AI features support interactive content, simplified explanations of rules, and shareable insights, helping bridge the gap between new and seasoned cricket fans.
Pixelโs strong camera and video capabilities enhance this by enabling real-time visual storytelling from stadiums, thereby increasing engagement across social media and digital platforms.
Together, these technologies emphasize creativity, accessibility, and mobile consumption, which are becoming essential to how global audiences enjoy major sporting events. As the tournament approaches, both platforms are expected to introduce more AI-powered features and content, offering fans new ways to participate, personalize, and share their World Cup experiences worldwide.
