Several Bangladesh fast bowlers helped their team to win a three-match series against New Zealand. On the other hand, several Nepali cricketers reached new career milestones in the T20 International tournament following their matches against the UAE.
Bangladesh Pacers Dominate ODI Bowling Charts
Bangladesh pacers, including Nahid Rana, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam took 18 wickets across three matches during the series against New Zealand. This helped the Bangladesh cricket team to secure a 2-1 win at home.
Nahid Rana was the biggest winner among the bowlers. He received the “Player of the Series” award for his consistent wicket-taking ability. Consequently, he jumped 16 places to reach 48th position in the world. This is a massive achievement for Rana as he breaks into the top 50 bowlers globally for the first time.
Shoriful Islam climbed 11 places to sit in 28th position. Meanwhile, Mustafizur Rahman moved 14 spots up to reach 41st position. He took 5 wickets in a single match which was a standout performance.
Batting Success for Bangladesh in Mirpur and Chattogram
It was not just the bowlers who performed well for the hosts. Several Bangladesh batters also saw their rankings improve after solid displays against the “Black Caps” from New Zealand. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front with a series of good scores. As a result, he rose 11 places to reach 32nd in the ODI batting rankings. Shanto was also the only player from either side to score a century during the series.
Litton Das also enjoyed a successful period with the bat. He jumped 15 spots to reach 65th position after scoring 129 runs in the series, which included a vital half-century. Furthermore, opener Tanzid Hasan scored 76 runs and catapulted up the rankings by 14 spots to move to 40th overall.
Another player who helped the team was Towhid Hridoy. He stayed unbeaten with 30 runs in one match, which helped him move up five slots to equal 26th in the batting charts.
