Delhi Capitals Extend Unbeaten Streak with Dominant Win Over RCB in TATA IPL

Delhi Capitals vs RCB 2025

Like a painter brushing his most delicate strokes, KL Rahul crafted a sublime 93* off 53 balls to lead Delhi Capitals home in class. Chasing 164, DC were shuffling at 66/4, but Rahul’s stability and Stubbs’ estimated attack turned the tide with 13 balls to spare.

The pair added an unbeaten 98-run stand, pacing the innings with a blend of finesse and firepower. While Stubbs (38* off 23) was the perfect foil, Rahul assumed complete control when rain threatened to alter the DLS equation, smashing 22 runs off Hazlewood in a pivotal 15th over.

RCB’s Fiery Start Fizzles Under Pressure

RCB’s innings began like a wildfire. Phil Salt went ballistic in the powerplay, including a 30-run demolition of Mitchell Starc in one over — the most expensive of the match.

But that inferno was doused quickly. A miscommunication ran Salt out, followed by a wicket maiden from Mukesh Kumar to remove Padikkal. From 64/2 in the powerplay, RCB stumbled, losing 7 wickets for just 74 runs in the next 14 overs.

Key Players for Delhi Capitals

  1. KL Rahul
    • Role: Batsman
    • Impact: KL Rahul was the star of the game, scoring 93 not out off 53 balls. His steady batting helped Delhi comfortably chase the target.
  2. Tristan Stubbs
    • Role: Batsman
    • Impact: Stubbs played an important role by scoring 38 runs off 23 balls. His quick runs helped speed up the chase and helped Delhi finish strong.
  3. Kuldeep Yadav
    • Role: Bowler
    • Impact: Kuldeep bowled brilliantly, taking 2 wickets for 17 runs. He helped slow down RCB’s scoring, especially in the middle overs.
  4. Vipraj Nigam
    • Role: Bowler
    • Impact: Nigam also played a big part with 2 wickets for 18 runs. His wickets during the middle overs were crucial in turning the game in Delhi’s favor.
  5. Mitchell Starc
    • Role: Bowler
    • Impact: Starc’s fielding was a highlight, especially when he made a stunning catch to dismiss Virat Kohli. His all-around performance has been key for Delhi this season.

Kuldeep, Vipraj Lead Delhi’s Bowling Revival

Kuldeep Yadav spun a web of deceit in the middle overs. His variations foxed RCB’s core, removing skipper Patidar and Jitesh Sharma in a masterful spell of 2/17.

Vipraj Nigam bowled like a python coiling around its prey, tightening its grip.

He dismissed Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya, returning with a stingy 2/18 that broke RCB’s back.

Key Players for Royal Challengers Bengaluru

  1. Phil Salt
    • Role: Batsman
    • Impact: Salt got RCB off to a fast start with 37 runs off 17 balls. But after his dismissal, RCB struggled to keep up the momentum.
  2. Tim David
    • Role: Batsman
    • Impact: David’s unbeaten 37 off 20 balls helped RCB recover and set a decent total, but it wasn’t enough to win.
  3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
    • Role: Bowler
    • Impact: Kumar took key wickets early on in Delhi’s innings, putting pressure on them. But Delhi’s middle order held strong and overcame the challenge.

Fielding Heroics Briefly Raised RCB Hopes

RCB shone momentarily in the field. Jitesh Sharma’s back-to-back stunning catches removed Fraser-McGurk and Porel. Suyash Sharma’s smart leg-spin also got rid of DC skipper Axar Patel.

But the fielding brilliance couldn’t plug the leaks. Once Rahul and Stubbs took charge, the game slipped through RCB’s fingers like sand in a sieve.

Can DC Keep the Speed Going?

With this decisive win, Delhi Capitals have declared themselves as title challengers. Their balance, depth, and formation look threatening for other teams.

Meanwhile, Royal challengers Bengaluru must introspect. Despite dynamic openings with the bat and moments of brilliance in the field, their middle-over weaknesses continue to haunt them.
