Delhi Capitals pulled off a dramatic six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 18, completing the chase of 176 with just one ball to spare. David Miller sealed the game with two sixes in the final over, finishing unbeaten on 22 off 10 balls. It was RCB’s second defeat of the season and their first at home.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to field first, and their bowlers gave a disciplined performance to limit RCB to 175/8 in 20 overs.
Phil Salt Powers RCB, but Spinners Apply the Brakes
Phil Salt was the mainstay of the RCB innings. The English opener was aggressive from the start, with four fours and three sixes in 63 of 38 balls. He took his half-century off only 30 balls before he was finally caught at wide long-off by Kuldeep Yadav.
Virat Kohli showed early intent in the powerplay before Lungi Ngidi had him caught at sweeper cover for 19. Tim David looked dangerous with 26 off 15 balls, but Axar Patel drew an outside edge and had him dismissed.
The departure of Salt caused RCB to lose their way. They had 25 balls in a row without a boundary and only two boundaries in their last six overs. Former RCB captain Faf du Plessis noted at the innings break that the hosts were around ten runs short. Axar Patel had 2/18, Kuldeep Yadav 2/32, and Lungi Ngidi 2/39.
Bhuvneshwar Tears Through DC Top Order Early
Delhi Capitals‘ chase got off to the worst possible start. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was outstanding with the new ball, swinging it in both directions with two slips. He got rid of Pathum Nissanka with a huge inswinger in his first over, and Karun Nair and Sameer Rizvi in his second. Delhi Capitals were cut down to 18 in 3 overs.

Then, KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs stabilized the innings with a vital partnership. Rahul was especially harsh on Josh Hazlewood; he scored 22 off ten balls. He hit 57 out of 34 balls before he was caught by Krunal Pandya. The dismissal of Rahul left DC in need of a lot of work from Stubbs.

Miller Finishes the Job With Three Brutal Blows
Stubbs held the innings together with an unbeaten 60 off 47 balls, rotating strike and finding boundaries at key moments. Axar Patel retired hurt on 26 off 19 balls after a useful 47-run partnership, leaving DC needing 42 off 25 balls.
The equation tightened to 13 needed off four balls when Miller missed the first delivery of the final over from Romario Shepherd. Shepherd then cracked completely. Miller smashed a full toss over midwicket for six, drove a wide half-volley over extra cover for another maximum, then flicked a four to the midwicket fence to seal the win.
Tristan Stubbs was named Player of the Match. Axar Patel earned CricInfo’s MVP award with 77.3 points for his contributions with both bat and ball.
Neither side has long to regroup. Delhi Capitals travel to Hyderabad to face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 21. RCB, on the other hand, return to home conditions on April 24 when they host the Gujarat Titans at Chinnaswamy.
