On Sunday, April 12, the Gujarat Titans achieved a convincing triumph at the Ekana Stadium over the Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets while comfortably chasing their stated goal of 165 runs with 8 balls remaining.
The foundation for Gujaratβs success came from the destructive effort by their bowlers, spearheaded by Prasidh Krishna, who recorded his best numbers in a T20 match, recording four wickets and supporting shots in the middle of the innings

Prasidh Krishna Produces Career-Best T20 Figures
Prasidh Krishnaβs personal best for a T20 was 4 wickets with 28 runs allowed; however, Mohammed Siraj and Ashok Sharma also contributed with vital wickets, as both bowled very well. Siraj was equally impressive, conceding only 19 runs on four overs while taking the wicket of Rishabh Pant. Ashok Sharma had more dot balls(count) in the match than any other bowler at 14, thereby applying total pressure during his entire bowling period.
Krishna was named Player of the Match for his performance. In his post-match remarks, Krishna said the team had been working hard and playing the right brand of cricket, adding that he was simply taking credit for the pressure built by the other bowlers.

Gill and Buttler’s 84-Run Partnership Seals the Chase
GT made a steady start with Gill and Sai Sudharsan laying a solid platform. Sudharsan was dismissed early by Digvesh Rathi, but that proved to be the only breakthrough for LSG during the power play, as GT reached 52/1 after six overs.
Buttler and Gill added 84 crucial runs for the second wicket. Buttler’s knock of 60 runs off 37 balls featured eleven boundaries in an innings that made the chase look entirely routine.
In the fifth over, Gill attacked Mohammed Shami, hitting four consecutive boundaries, three fours and a six in a single over. Buttler reached his half-century in 29 balls, registering his 25th IPL fifty and his 100th half-century in T20 cricket overall.
Gill was caught at the wicket off Prince Yadav for 56, and Buttler followed shortly after for 60, caught by Markram off Shami. Washington Sundar (21* off 13) and Rahul Tewatia (10* off 8) finished the job without fuss.
Shubman Gill Becomes Youngest to 4000 IPL Runs
The match also produced a significant individual milestone. At 26 years and 216 days, Gill became the youngest batter to reach 4000 runs in the IPL, improving on Virat Kohli‘s previous mark of 27 years and 195 days. Gill reached the milestone in his 118th innings, placing him second behind KL Rahul, who achieved it in 105 innings.
Points Table Impact and What Comes Next
The result moved the Gujarat Titans to fifth place in the IPL 2026 points table, while Lucknow Super Giants remain in the sixth position. They both have 4 IPL points, but LSG is significantly behind on net run rate.
Rishabh Pant acknowledged that the total was not enough. He said, βI think in a wicket like this, a score like 170 to 180 is a really good score. But, you know, the wicket kept on falling and they put enough pressure on us to get those wickets going.β
LSG’s batting is becoming a growing issue, with the middle order repeatedly failing to convert promising starts into match-defining contributions.
Lucknow Super Giants are scheduled to play Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 15, while Gujarat Titans face Kolkata Knight Riders on April 17.
