The Indian Premier League 2025 will end with a special tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to dedicate the IPL closing ceremony to honour the brave soldiers behind Operation Sindoor.
The final match will take place on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 45-minute ceremony will feature patriotic performances and a musical evening. Military bands may also perform.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force have been invited. Special stands in the stadium will be reserved for armed forces personnel.
“Cricket is close to our hearts, but nothing is more important than our nation. This tribute is a way to thank our soldiers for their courage and sacrifice,” said Saikia.
The final was shifted from Kolkata to Ahmedabad due to the one-week suspension of IPL 2025. The tournament was paused after rising border tensions between India and Pakistan.
Operation Sindoor and BCCI’s Continued Support for Armed Forces
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The attack killed 26 civilians. Indian forces responded with precision strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The IPL resumed on May 17 after a ceasefire agreement. Since then, BCCI has shown support for the armed forces during every match. Stadiums across the country displayed large banners with messages like “Thank You, Armed Forces.” Players also sang the national anthem before several games.
BCCI’s Ongoing Support for the Armed Forces
This is not the first time BCCI has honoured India’s military. After the Pulwama attack in 2019, the board invited a military band to the IPL opening ceremony. BCCI also donated ₹20 crore for the welfare of armed forces personnel.
As IPL 2025 reaches its final stage, the closing ceremony will remind the country of the heroes who protect it every day. This tribute reflects the spirit of unity, sacrifice, and national pride.
