IPL 2025 is all set to roll from 21st March and the excitement is getting started. After the mega auction took place and every fan was happy with what came out, the salaries of IPL captains became of interest to fans.
Of the total of 10 teams, only 7 have openly announced their captains. RCB, DC, and KKR have played their cards close to the chest. In order to keep fans aware, today we will be talking about the salaries of IPL captains.
Rishabh Pant (Rs 27 crores)
In the list of salaries of IPL captains, Rishabh Pant sits right at the top. It was a bidding war when Rishabh Pant announced that he would be coming to the auction table.
When the chance for Delhi Capitals came through to retain him, Lucknow Super Giants set the price at Rs 27 crores. Delhi wasn’t interested in investing such a massive amount and Rishabh became the highest-paid captain in IPL.
Shreyas Iyer (Rs 26.75 crores)
The IPL-winning skipper of 2024, Shreyas Iyer, is right behind Rishabh Pant for salaries of IPL captains, which sits higher. It was a massive fight out for Shreyas Iyer for his leadership and batting skills.
In the end, Punjab Kings won the bidding war. Iyer will be paid Rs 26.75 crores to play for Punjab Kings and also captain them. Iyer has previously worked with Ricky Ponting in Delhi so he will be part of the same setup as the Punjab Kings.
Pat Cummins (Rs 20.50 crores)
The skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Patrick Cummins, also walks into the list of salaries of IPL captains who sit on the higher side. Cummins was appointed as the SRH skipper in 2024, and he made things happen.
SRH was one of the dominant forces in IPL 2024 with the bat and ball. They reached the finals only to lose to Kolkata Knight Riders. Cummins will be paid Rs 20.50 crores and will lead the team a second time.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (Rs 18 crores)
Once again, the skipper of Chennai Super Kings will be a major focus. In the last few years, Chennai hasn’t done too well under the leadership of Gaikwad. With CSK being such a massive brand, playoffs are a must.
Chennai Super Kings have shown faith in Gaikwad and paid him Rs 18 crores to once again lead the team. It will be key to see how good Gaikwad will be this time around.
Sanju Samson (Rs 18 crores)
The boy from Kerala, Sanju Samson, will take hold of the fort for Rajasthan Royals. Samson has been the skipper of Rajasthan Royals for 4 seasons now, and the team has done a good enough job.
Interestingly, they haven’t won the title but reached the finals in the 2022 season. Sanju Samson’s IPL salary is Rs 18 crores and he will be paid the same amount even in the 2025 season. Samson was one of the first retained players in the RR squad for the 2025 season.
Shubman Gill (16.5 crores)
Shubman Gill became the skipper of Gujarat Titans in the most peculiar situation. As Hardik Pandya left GT after winning 1 title, Gill was appointed the skipper. It has only been 1 season that Gill has led the team, and it has been acceptable.
The prince of Indian batting, according to Aakash Chopra, Shubman was paid Rs 16.5 crores to lead the Gujarat side. He will be paid the same amount and will have to build the core of the team once again. Gill will also have to score runs with the bat to make an impact.
Hardik Pandya (Rs 15 crores)
One of the most controversial skippers of IPL 2024 was Hardik Pandya. Mainly because he left his home franchise to chase Mumbai Indians. Hardik Pandya’s IPL salary is Rs 15 crores and is the lowest on the list.
He came straight into the Mumbai squad and replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain. As Hardik hasn’t done anything significant with the Mumbai squad, it will be tough for the payscale to go higher.
