Sameer Rizvi Stars Again With Match-Winning 90
The most outstanding performance of the night was delivered by Sameer Rizvi. He stepped in as the Impact Player of DC and his 90 off 51 balls included 7 fours and 7 sixes at 176.47 strike rate. It was his second Player of the Match award in IPL 2026 games and his third in a row, including his award in the final match of the 2025 season by DC.
Rizvi changed gears halfway through the innings of DC. At a tender situation of 73 for 3 in ten overs, he took apart Corbin Bosch for 20 runs in one over when the game was evenly paced at the halfway mark. His fifty came off just 31 balls, and he almost approached three figures when he was caught on the boundary for 90.
Nissanka Steadied DC After Shaky Start
KL Rahul’s stay at the crease lasted barely three deliveries, edging Chahar behind for a single while Nitish Rana was run out soon after. DC was stumbling at 7 for 2. Pathum Nissanka reacted well, making 44 out of 30 balls, including six fours and a six, before getting bowled out by Markande off Santner.

DC Bowlers Kept MI in Check
Mumbai Indians batted first, and they were limited to 162 in 20 overs. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, the team was captained by Suryakumar Yadav, who made the highest score of 51 off 36 balls. However, MI failed in the process, coping with a six-less power play, which had not occurred to them since 2023.
Mukesh Kumar took two early wickets, taking out Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma. Axar Patel was spacious with only 1 wicket at 22 runs in four overs. With Hardik Pandya absent due to illness, MI visibly lacked a finisher in the closing overs.

This win gave the Delhi Capitals 2 points (total: 4 points after two matches). They are at the top of the IPL 2026 table. DC play Sunrisers Hyderabad on 21st April.
Mumbai Indians, who are only on 2 points after 2 matches, have hardly any time to lament, as they have a match against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on April 7. They badly need a win with Hardik Pandya’s fitness still uncertain.
