Kolkata Knight Riders gave Gujarat Titans their toughest batting challenge of IPL 2026 on Friday night, hitting 247 for 2 at Eden Gardens before holding them to 218 for 4 to secure a 29-run victory. The win extends KKR’s playoff hopes and puts an end to GT’s five-match winning streak.
GT won the toss and decided to field first, hoping the surface would help their bowlers in the initial stages. It did, briefly. The first two overs yielded only eight runs, and Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada picked up some early movement. However, this advantage was short-lived and was not significant.
Finn Allen Tears GT Apart With a Devastating 93
Finn Allen had other plans. After a cautious start, he shifted gears without warning and proceeded to dismantle the GT bowling attack in a way that left the Eden Gardens crowd stunned. He hit 10 sixes in just 35 balls and brought up his fifty off 21 deliveries. GT dropped him twice during this period, and they paid the full price for both errors.
Allen’s 93 off 35 balls, at a strike rate of 265.71, set up the platform everything else was built on. GT had no answer to his reach, his timing, or his ability to hit both pace and spin with equal authority. R Sai Kishore eventually got him out in the 12th over, seven runs short of what would have been his second hundred of the season.
By then, KKR already had 139 on the board and the game was tilted firmly in their favour.
Raghuvanshi and Green Complete the Demolition Job
With Allen gone, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green took over and never let the scoring rate drop. The two put on an unbroken 108 runs off just 53 balls for the third wicket. Raghuvanshi finished unbeaten on 82 off 44 balls, and Green made 52 not out off 28.

GT continued to struggle on the field. Arshad Khan dropped Green on 23, and Washington Sundar spilled a straightforward chance to reprieve Raghuvanshi on 52. Both batters made GT pay immediately. Raghuvanshi’s innings grew increasingly inventive in the closing overs, hitting Siraj for three sixes in the 19th over using three completely different shots. Green reached his fifty off 26 balls in the final over.
KKR’s 247 for 2 was the highest score any team has ever posted against Gujarat Titans.

Narine’s 200th IPL Game Seals the Win for KKR
Chasing 248, GT made a fast start and raced to 42 for no loss inside three overs. Sai Sudharsan was largely responsible for that momentum, but he retired hurt after taking a blow to the elbow. The chase never fully recovered from his absence.
Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler put on 128 for the third wicket, with Gill scoring 85 and Buttler contributing 57. But the required rate kept climbing, and when Sunil Narine β playing his 200th IPL match β came into the attack, he changed the game completely. He dismissed Nishant Sindhu with his very first ball and conceded just two runs off that over.
Narine finished with 2 for 29 from four overs and was named Player of the Match. His second wicket, Gill’s dismissal in the 17th over, ended whatever slim hope GT still had. They needed 71 off 22 balls at that point. GT eventually finished on 218 for 4, falling 29 runs short.
The only concern for KKR was Matheesha Pathirana, who walked off with a hamstring issue, having bowled just 1.2 overs on his return to the side.
KKR’s next match is against Mumbai Indians on May 20 in Kolkata, while GT’s next play Chennai Super Kings on May 21 in Ahmedabad.
