Welcome back to the GT Dugout, Matthew Wade!” Wade’s return is expected to bring valuable insights and experience to the team as they prepare for another competitive season in the world’s richest T20 league.
Matthew Wade’s IPL Career with Gujarat Titans
Matthew Wade IPL career was short but meaningful. He played 15 matches, including 12 for the Gujarat Titans between 2022-2024 season. He scored 183 runs with an average of 13.07. While his stats may not be so good, he played an important role in Gujarat’s debut season in 2022, helping them win the IPL trophy under Hardik Pandya’s leadership.
Wade retired from international cricket in October 2024, and immediately started searching for coaching opportunities. He gained the coaching experience during the T20I series against Pakistan, working under Andre Borovec, while Australia’s main coaching staff focused on Test preparations.
Now, as a part of GT supporting staff, he is expected to bring his competitive mindset and tactical understanding to the team’s dugout.

Gujarat Titans’ First Match and Season Plans
Gujarat Titans will play their first match of IPL 2025 against Punjab Kings, on March 25, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After the disappointing season of 2024, the team is fully prepared to make a strong comeback this year.
They have strengthened the squads by important signings, including Mohammad Siraj (₹12.25 crore), Kagiso Rabada (₹10.75 crore), and Prasidh Krishna (₹9.50 crore).
They also added Jos Buttler, Washington Sundar, and Ishant Sharma to the squad.
