However, nothing official yet. The official confirmation and final announcement regarding the IPL auction venue are expected before the November 15 retention deadline, and BCCI has not released a formal official statement yet about moving the IPL 2026 auction overseas.
Nevertheless, multiple reliable reports surfacing on the internet indicate that the primary reason for the shift in IPL auction venue is due to India’s busy festival and wedding season coinciding with the auction dates in mid-December. This makes it difficult to secure a suitable venue in India.
On the other hand, the Gulf locations offer high-end infrastructure and international appeal, adding global dimension and commercial interest.
