The Rajasthan Royals defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by 40 runs on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja captained the Royals with an unbeaten 43 runs and an important wicket. RR played LSG in Match 32 of the IPL 2026 season at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
RR ended a two-match losing streak by making 159 runs and losing 6 wickets during their first innings against the Giants. In the second innings, RR halted LSG’s chase in just under 18 overs and 119 runs.
The Royals are back at the second spot in the IPL points table with 10 points. On the other hand, Lucknow suffered their fourth consecutive loss and they stand at the bottom of the table with just 4 points.
Ravindra Jadeja Saves Rajasthan After Early Batting Collapse
The Rajasthan Royals had a very difficult start after losing the toss and being asked to bat first. The team collapsed to a worrying 32/3 within the first four overs. Veteran bowler Mohammed Shami bowled out Yashasvi Jaiswal for just 22 runs and Dhruv Jurel with no runs in back-to-back deliveries. Mohsin Khan then bowled out the 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for 8 runs with a wicket-maiden over.
However, Ravindra Jadeja entered the game and stabilized the innings. Jadeja, who recently returned to the Royals in a major trade from Chennai Super Kings, built partnerships of 30 runs with Shimron Hetmyer who made 22 runs.

The Explosive Final Over Surge
The most critical moment of the first innings happened in the final over. Jadeja took full advantage of Mayank Yadav, who was returning from an injury. He smashed 20 runs in that over alone, including two boundaries and a massive six into the stands.
Meanwhile, Shubham Dubey supported Jadeja well at the end. Dubey hit 19 runs off just 11 balls to ensure Rajasthan reached a competitive score. Consequently, the Royals finished their 20 overs at 159/6, a total that proved too much for the home side on a slow and grippy pitch.

Lucknow Super Giants Top Order Fails in Record Collapse
Lucknow lost their first three batters for ducks in less than three overs. Ayush Badoni was run out in the very first over after a major mix-up with his partner Mitchell Marsh.
Nandre Burger then removed LSG captain Rishabh Pant for a three-ball duck. Pant tried to play aggressive shots immediately but only managed to edge the ball to the wicketkeeper.
Furthermore, Aiden Markram also fell for a duck when he top-edged a fast delivery from Jofra Archer. At 11/3, the Super Giants were already in a nearly impossible position.
Rajasthan bowler Jofra Archer took 3 wickets for only 20 runs in his four overs. Archer became RRโs all-time leading wicket-taker, surpassing Shane Watson.

Mitchell Marsh Fought a Lone Battle
Mitchell Marsh scored 55 runs off 41 balls, hitting six boundaries and two sixes. Marsh reached his half-century in 39 balls to give the home fans some hope.
However, Marsh received very little support from the other end. Nicholas Pooran struggled to find his rhythm and scored only 22 runs from 25 balls before falling to Jadeja. Once Nandre Burger dismissed Marsh in the 16th over, the rest of the Lucknow lineup collapsed quickly.
Road to the IPL 2026 Playoffs
Rajasthan Royals have 10 points from seven matches. They are in a strong position to qualify for the playoffs. They now need approximately three more wins from their remaining seven games to guarantee a spot in the next round.
Lucknow Super Giants have only two wins from seven matches and sit in ninth place. Their poor net run rate of -1.277 makes it more difficult for them as they enter the second half of the IPL season.
