In the second unofficial test match between India A and Australia A, Australia A put up a massive score on the scoreboard despite the spinner Manav Suthar taking a five-wicket haul in his 32 overs. Happening at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, the match has now headed to lunch break with India still trailing by 382 runs with the loss of one wicket.Β

Let’s explore how Australia A dominated the first day of the unofficial test.Β

Australia A Taking Charge Over India A

The Australia A tour of India, 2025, is going on in full swing as the second unofficial test between Australia A and India A has seen a dominating performance from the Aussie side, with the score of 420 runs in the first innings of the match. India A won the toss and decided to bowl first, but Australia A took full advantage of the conditions as they started smashing runs from the very first ball of the innings.Β

However, their opener batter, Campbell Kellaway, got dismissed in 3.3 overs, which nearly turned the match in India A’s favor, but the calm and composed hitting from Sam Konstas following the fall of the first wicket changed the scenario for Australia A. He scored 49 runs off 91 balls, followed by the captain, McSweeney, who smashed 74 runs off 162 balls.Β

Indian bowlers were also trying to break the momentum for Aussie batters, as Manav Suthar proved to be a lethal spinner in the match when he took a five-wicket haul, dismissing the key batters like Oliver Peake, Cooper Connolly, and Philippe when the Australian batters were taking control over the Indian bowlers. Despite taking a five-wicket haul, Jack Edwards held his nerve and led from the front, scoring 88 runs in 78 balls at a strike rate of 112.82. On the other hand, India A’s Gurnoor Brar picked up 3 wickets in just 13.2 overs of his spell.Β

Despite all the efforts from Indian bowlers, Australian batters took matters into their own hands and scored 420 runs at the initial session of Day 2, including the contribution from tail-end batter T. Murphy, who scored 76 runs off 89 balls.

What’s Happening on Day 2?

As Day 2 started with the Australian side continuing their score of 350 for 9, the innings ended in 97.2 overs when Australia A scored 420 runs. Right now, lunch break has been called with Indian batters playing 10 overs. Currently, India has 38 runs on the board in the loss of one wicket. KL Rahul got dismissed in just 11 runs after playing 24 balls. However, the other opener batter, N. Jagadeesan, is batting beautifully, as he is on the 24-run mark in just 33 balls. On the other hand, the number three batter, Sai Sudharsan, is expected to support his partner and put some runs on the board, closing the lead taken by Australia A.Β

Amit Mishra’s View

As a cricket enthusiast who also loves to see the matches other than the highlighted one, the match between India A and Australia A has proved to be thrilling, as we are on Day 2 of the unofficial test. With Australia taking a lead from the front, the bowling attack from spinner Manav Suthar should not be ignored as well, since he has taken five important wickets, that too in crucial moments of the game.Β

On the other hand, Australia A’s batters also displayed their determination and grit on the field, with several renowned names smashing runs for the team. As the match progresses, we have yet to see the full potential from both sides, especially from the young guns who were seeking a platform.
