Shree Charani, 20, turned the heat up with two wickets in a single over. Further, Amanjot and Deepti Sharma chipped in with a wicket each, restricting England to 157/7.
India’s opening was not fluent as the team faltered, losing openers Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur inside the PowerPlay.
After the win, Captain Harmanpreet said, “Good win for us, the way the entire team performed today was special to see. The way Jemimah and Amanjot played gave us a platform. When boundaries were not coming, they were looking for twos. Still, it’s a long time to see how it’ll be in the World Cup. Just focus on this series. Spin is our strength, and I want to back that.”
On the other side, Tammy Beaumont of the England national team recorded her 11th T20I fifty. The England national team lost its grip in the match after losing early wickets and three run-outs.
Amit Mishra’s Take
As a great fan of the Indian Women’s National Cricket Team, I am truly mesmerized by the women’s squad for delivering a nail-biting game against England. Who would have thought they would ultimately lead the game after such a slow start, but the team turned the tables.
Shoutout to Jemimah Rodrigues, Amanjot Kaur, Deepti Sharma, and Harmanpreet Kaurplay for their consistency and little magic in the game. Best of luck to the Indian national team for the upcoming matches.
