Harmanpreet Century, Goud’s 6 Wickets Guide India Women to 2-1 Series Win Over England Women

India Women clinched a thrilling 2-1 ODI series victory over England with a 13-run win in the high-octane decider at Chester-le-Street.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with a breathtaking century, while 21-year-old Kranti Goud tore through England’s batting lineup with a career-best six-wicket haul.

Even a valiant 162-run stand between Nat Sciver-Brunt and Emma Lamb couldn’t save England, who fell short chasing a steep 319.

[Trending] Harmanpreet Breaks Her Drought in Class

Coming to the crease under pressure, Harmanpreet Kaur bounced back with a commanding 102 off 84 balls—her first ODI century in 13 matches.

Her knock made her only the third Indian woman to reach 4,000 ODI runs. She also matched Mithali Raj’s record of seven WODI centuries, trailing only Smriti Mandhana’s 11.

Kaur’s fluent stroke play, including bold sweeps, crisp drives, and confident pulls, anchored the innings. She stitched a 110-run partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues (unbeaten 50). Supporting knocks came from Smriti Mandhana (45), Harleen Deol (34), and Richa Ghosh, whose blazing 38 off 18 balls* helped India post 318/5.

England missed a key review when Kaur was on 22—a costly error in hindsight.

[Report] Goud’s Dream Spell Shatters England’s Dreams

Kranti Goud, in her fifth ODI, provided England with a blistering beginning. She hit two early blows within the first three overs. She ended with fantastic figures of 6 for 52 to become the second-youngest Indian female to take an ODI five-wicket haul.

Although England retaliated with 162 runs in the partnership of Nat Sciver-Brunt (98) and Emma Lamb (68), India counter-attacked at the moment. Shree Charani dismissed Lamb in the 31st over, while Deepti Sharma dismissed Sciver-Brunt while on two runs short of her hundred.

England’s lower order and middle order caved in under pressure. Rodrigues pulled off two deep catches, while Richa Ghosh’s sublime run-out put England in trouble. Goud wrapped up the game by dismissing Lauren Bell on a ball still left in the innings.

The Indian fans took over the internet and have been showering praises for the team for their historic win.

A historic achievement and a proud moment for Indian cricket! 🙌

It is indeed a special win, and if the Indian team keeps up the form, they are ready to take over.

Amit Mishra’s Take

India Women were calm, confident, and a class above England. Harmanpreet, finding her feet at the right time, could not have come at a better time.

And Kranti Goud? A star in the making. Kranti’s aggression, her accuracy, and her intensity were precisely what India required to wrap up this series. If this is the kind of form India is finding at any rate, then the home World Cup may just be fireworks.
