Bangladesh cricket fans have been struck with the disappointing news as the star wicket-keeper batter, Litton Kumar Das, who is known for his explosive batting style, is likely to miss the upcoming white-ball series against Afghanistan due to a back injury. The three-match T20I series is scheduled to take place in the UAE against the rising nation in recent times, Afghanistan.
The injury had also kept him out of the Super Four matches against India and Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup, which resulted in a big loss for the Tigers.
Litton Kumar Das’s Absence in the White-Ball Series
Bangladesh received a big blow ahead of the three-match white-ball series against Afghanistan, which is scheduled for October 2, 3, and 5, respectively, after the news of the star wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumar Das being ruled out of the series went viral. As per the different sports outlets, Litton Kumar Das will still need at least three weeks of rest and rehabilitation due to a back injury, making him unavailable for the three T20Is and three ODIs happening in the UAE.
Litton Kumar Das faced injury on September 22 during a training session at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai, where he felt the pain on the left side of his waist while practicing a square cut in the nets. He was then immediately pulled out of training after being consulted with team physio Bayzid ul Islam, and was subsequently ruled out of the rest of the Asia Cup. In his absence, Bangladesh lost their Super Four games to both India and Pakistan and could not even qualify for the final.

This is unfortunate for Bangladesh, as they are in the process of preparing to take part in the T20 World Cup in the subcontinent next year, and his absence could play a major role in the team’s spirit. Litton’s experience and awareness in the field is sought to be vital elements, especially in the team’s batting order and his magic behind the stumps as well.
However, there have been reports of Jaker Ali already being replaced for the wicketkeeping role in the upcoming white-ball series against Afghanistan, and he will be donning the role unless selectors change their minds. Jaker also stepped in as a replacement for Litton Kumar Das during the Asia Cup matches.
Bangladesh is set to resume its training on September 29 as a part of the white-ball series, which will be played in Sharjah from October 2 to 5, followed by the ODI matches on October 8, 11, and 14, respectively.

Amit Mishra’s Take
As a cricket enthusiast, the injury scare of Litton Kumar Das is saddening since he has always proved to be a star batter and keeper behind the stumps. The absence of Das will certainly shake up the batting line of Bangladesh’s national team, as he has stood up for the team whenever necessary. However, the replacement Jaker Ali could be a good asset for the team. With his batting skills shown in recent years, Ali can play the needed heroic innings.
I am looking forward to the white-ball series as Afghanistan might also take advantage of the absence of Litton Kumar Das from the squad to clinch the victory in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
