New Zealand A’s upcoming tour to Bangladesh will be an exciting challenge with Wellington Firebirds’ Nick Kelly and Northern Districts’ Joe Carter leading the way.
Kelly will lead the team in three one-day internationals, while Carter will captain the team in two four-day games.
New Zealand A Squad and Key Players for Bangladesh Tour
Nick Kelly and Joe Carter bring a lot of experience to the New Zealand A squad. Kelly, who recently made his BLACKCAPS debut during the ODI series against Pakistan, will lead the team in the 50-over format.
He is known for his consistency and was the top run-scorer in the Plunket Shield, making him a perfect choice to captain the one-day side.
Joe Carter, who impressed during New Zealand A’s 2022 tour of India, will captain the team for the four-day matches. He averaged 60.40 on that tour and scored two centuries, including a career-best 197.
His experience in subcontinent conditions will be crucial as the team faces Bangladesh A.
Bob Carter, the team’s coach, said: “For several players, it will be their first time experiencing subcontinent conditions, which will be a great challenge and opportunity to further their skillsets.”

New Zealand A Squad: Muhammad Abbas, Adi Ashok, Matt Boyle, Joe Carter (Red-ball captain), Kristian Clarke, Josh Clarkson, Zak Foulkes, Dean Foxcroft, Mitch Hay, Curtis Heaphy, Nick Kelly (White-ball captain), Jayden Lennox, Ben Lister, Rhys Mariu, Dale Phillips.
This tour also includes some rising stars, like Rhys Mariu and Muhammad Abbas. Mariu and Abbas made their debut against Pakistan earlier this year. Abbas made an instant impact by scoring the fastest-ever ODI fifty on debut in just 24 balls. Along with Kelly, they will play a key role in New Zealand A’s success in Bangladesh.
The squad also has players with international experience, such as wicketkeeper-batter Mitch Hay and fast bowlers Zak Foulkes and Ben Lister.
Hay, who recently scored an unbeaten 99 against Pakistan, adds strength to the batting lineup. Lister, who returns after overcoming injuries, will bring pace to the bowling attack.
