Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets on Saturday, 25 April 2026, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. This vital win keeps the defending champions’ hopes of reaching the PSL 2026 playoffs alive.
Fakhar Zaman performed exceptionally with an unbeaten 58 runs as Lahore successfully chased a huge target of 200 with three balls remaining. The victory moved the Qalandars into fourth place on the PSL points table and officially knocked the Karachi Kings out of the tournament.
Playoff Race Intensifies After Qalandars Win
The race for the final playoff spot in the Pakistan Super League 2026 is now a two-team battle. Following this result, Lahore Qalandars have eight points and a strong net run-rate. However, their future still depends on the results of the final league matches. Now, the Hyderabad Kingsmen must win their final game by a large margin on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi have already qualified for the playoffs. Despite this being Zalmi’s first defeat of the season, they remain at the top of the PSL table and will play in the upcoming Qualifier in Karachi.

Fakhar Zaman Plays Anchoring Role in Huge Chase
Fakhar Zaman scored 58 runs from 47 balls. He had scored only 20 runs from 19 balls during the power play. But eventually, he anchored his team to an aggressive play in the latter half of the game. He was named Player of the Match and dedicated the award to his wife and children.
The chase began with some difficulty as the opening batter, Mohammad Naeem, was bowled out early. However, the Qalandars recovered quickly. They managed to score 36 runs in the final two overs of the power play. Fakhar managed to keep his wicket and hit crucial boundaries whenever the required run-rate started to climb.
Powerful Cameos from Sams and Raza
Although Fakhar was the hero, several other players played explosive roles in the chase. Sikandar Raza changed the momentum of the match with a quick 29 runs from just 11 balls. When he arrived at the crease, Lahore needed 82 runs from 44 balls. By the time he left, the team only needed 40 runs from 25 balls. His aggressive batting between the mid-on and cover areas put the Zalmi bowlers under immense pressure.
Daniel Sams delivered the final “knockout punch” for the Qalandars. He smashed 35 runs from only 15 balls, including several boundaries that killed the game in the final overs. Sams and Fakhar shared an unbeaten partnership that guided the team home with three balls to spare. Abdullah Shafique also contributed a breezy 25 runs from 11 balls early in the innings.
Peshawar Zalmi Set a Massive Target
Peshawar Zalmi lost the toss and they had to bat first. They scored 199 for 4 in their 20 overs. Captain Babar starred for Zalmi. He scored 59 runs from 45 balls, continuing his excellent form in the tournament. He shared an important partnership that allowed the middle-order power hitters to play freely later in the innings.
Although James Vince and Kusal Mendis lost their wickets earlier than expected, the team did not lose momentum. At the end of their first innings, they set a target of 200 runs for the Qalandars.

Michael Bracewell Dominates Lahore Bowlers
Michael Bracewell played a spectacular innings for Peshawar Zalmi. He scored 83 runs from just 45 balls. His knock included eight boundaries and six sixes, as he dominated the Lahore bowling attack in the latter half of the innings. Bracewell’s aggression was the main reason Zalmi reached the 200-run mark.
Iftikhar Ahmed also provided a late boost for the visitors. He made 27 runs from 14 balls in the death overs.
Captains Share Their Thoughts After the Thriller
After the match, Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi praised his team’s effort. He noted that the decision to play an extra batter was a key factor in their successful chase. He also admitted that the team needs to improve its death bowling before the playoffs. Shaheen expressed confidence that the team would perform better if they secured their place in the next round.
Babar Azam, the Peshawar Zalmi captain, described the loss as a wake-up call for his side.
