Zimbabwe Cricket announced a 15-member squad on 8 July 2026 for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The selection committee selected the core players who successfully reached the Super Eight stage of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Captain Sikandar Raza will continue to lead the side as they return to home soil for this international series. The matches will take place at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo starting on 15 July 2026.
Newman Nyamhuri’s Earned First T20I Call-Up
Uncapped left-arm fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri has earned his first T20I call-up. Newman Nyamhuri has impressed the national selectors with his recent performances against Bangladesh. The 20-year-old bowler played a massive role in Zimbabwe’s recent victory in the one-off Test match. He took six wickets during that game, helping Zimbabwe secure a historic win.
Nyamhuri also showed his skills in the opening ODI of the current tour. He earned the Player of the Match award after taking two wickets for 22 runs in six overs. He also scored 33 runs in 51 balls. He can play with both the ball and the bat, and he is a great addition to the shortest format of the game.
Milton Shumba’s Returns to National Squad
Top-order batter Milton Shumba returns to the T20I setup for the first time since 2022. Milton proved himself in domestic cricket. He had not played a T20I for Zimbabwe since the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. However, he became the leading run-scorer in Zimbabwe’s domestic T20 competition earlier this year.
Shumba scored 223 runs in just eight matches during the domestic tournament. This consistent scoring proved he was ready for a return to international cricket. The selectors believe his experience in the top order will help the team build strong totals against the Bangladesh bowlers.

Maintaining Momentum from the T20 World Cup
Convener of selectors David Mutendera explained that the team wanted to maintain continuity. Zimbabwe had an excellent run in the recent T20 World Cup held in India and Sri Lanka. During that tournament, they finished the first round without losing a single game.
The team also secured famous victories over major cricket nations like Australia and Sri Lanka. Because the group performed so well, the selection committee decided to keep 12 of the 15 players who made history by reaching the Super Eight stage. Mutendera stated that the series provides another chance for the group to grow before other major international tournaments.

Significant Absences and Injury Updates
While many players returned, some notable names will miss the series. Veteran player Graeme Cremer is unavailable for selection. He unfortunately suffered a fracture in his left arm, which has ruled him out of action.
Two other players from the World Cup squad, Brendan Taylor and Tony Munyonga, also missed out on selection this time. The selectors decided to move in a different direction by bringing in Nyamhuri and Shumba to replace these vacancies. These changes represent the only major shifts from the group that performed so well on the world stage.
Zimbabwe’s Full 15-Member T20I Squad: Sikandar Raza (Captain), Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Ben Curran, Brad Evans, Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Newman Nyamhuri, Milton Shumba
