Southern Brave defeated London Spirit by five wickets on 1st August 2026 at Lord’s. The England fast bowler, Jofra Archer, produced a masterclass in pace bowling, taking four wickets for just nine runs.
Southern Brave restricted London Spirit to 105 runs and moved into fourth place in The Hundred standings. Southern Brave chased the target with three balls remaining to keep their knockout hopes alive.

Jofra Archer Triggers Historic London Spirit Collapse
Jofra Archer played an incredible spell of bowling. London Spirit reached 103 runs for five wickets with 15 balls remaining in their innings. However, Archer dominated the lower order.
The fast bowler bowled out London Spirit opener Jonny Bairstow for 56 runs. Chris Jordan caught Bairstow after the batter had struck five fours and two sixes. Archer then dismissed David Willey and trapped Andrew Tye leg before wicket with consecutive deliveries.
London Spirit lost their final five wickets for only two runs. This collapse occurred in just seven balls. Meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis supported Archer by taking the final two wickets. Stoinis finished with 3 wickets for 17 runs from 17 balls. Archer took a total of 4 wickets for 9 runs. This is his best of the 2026 season.

David Miller Steadies the Chase After Early Wobble
Southern Brave initially struggled to chase 106 runs. London Spirit bowler David Willey took an early wicket by bowling Ben McKinney for a golden duck. Willey also bowled out Nikhil Chaudhary for five runs.
Jamie Smith scored a quick 36 runs from 22 balls. He hit four fours and two sixes during his aggressive cameo. However, James Coles trapped Smith leg before wicket, which triggered a middle-order collapse. Southern Brave lost three wickets for just five runs and slumped to 60 for five.
David Miller controlled the middle overs. The experienced left-hander hit four boundaries and two sixes to keep the scoreboard moving.
Tristan Stubbs joined Miller and the pair made an unbroken 51-run partnership to secure the win. Miller finished unbeaten on 39 runs from 28 balls. He ended the match by hitting a six off Liam Livingstone, followed by another boundary to win.

Adil Rashid Breaks Men’s Hundred Wicket Record
Southern Brave spinner Adil Rashid played a record-breaking performance. Rashid dismissed London Spirit captain Liam Livingstone for five runs. This wicket made Rashid the all-time leading wicket-taker in the history of the men’s Hundred.
Rashid moved past Tymal Mills to claim the top spot. He finished the match with 2 wickets for 17 runs from his 20 balls. The 38-year-old leg-spinner continues to be a vital part of the Southern Brave attack.

Impact on The Hundred 2026 Standings
Southern Brave have now won two matches in a row after losing their first three games. This victory lifts them three places to fourth in the Hundred Points Table. They currently have eight points from five matches.
Southern Brave are now firmly in the race for a spot in the Eliminator. However, London Spirit have dropped to seven place with only one win from their four games. Spirit will likely need to win all their remaining matches to have any hope of reaching the knockout stage.
Southern Brave will next face Welsh Fire on August 3. A victory in that match could move them to 12 points and closer to securing a top-three finish.
