RCB’s Road to the Final
RCB dominated the league stage with six wins, securing a direct spot in the final. Delhi Capitals reached the final by defeating Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator. For DC, it was another opportunity to break their streak of final losses. For RCB, it was a chance to prove themselves as the top franchise.
Batting first, DC scored 203 for 4, briefly appearing poised for victory. Openers Lizelle Lee (37 off 30) and Shafali Verma (20 off 13) gave DC a strong start. This was followed by a 76-run partnership between Laura Wolvaardt (44 off 25) and Jemimah Rodrigues (57 off 37). A late push from Chinelle Henry (35* off 15) pushed DC past 200. RCB’s bowlers struggled, but Lauren Bell’s four economical overs helped keep the total within reach.
In their chase of 204, the highest total ever chased successfully in a WPL final, RCB faced an early setback with Grace Harris’s wicket. Mandhana (87 off 41) and Voll (79 off 54) took control, reaching their half-centuries in 23 and 37 balls, respectively. Their 165-run partnership put RCB firmly in charge, as they reached 174 for 2 by the 17th over.
Chinelle Henry fought back by taking two wickets, including the key dismissal of Mandhana in the penultimate over. With 10 runs needed in the last over, Radha Yadav hit two boundaries, securing RCB’s win with two balls remaining. This chase broke RCB’s own record from 2025 and set a new benchmark for any WPL final.
