Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Delhi Capitals by nine wickets in an IPL 2026 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Monday, April 27. DC were bowled out for 75 in 16.3 overs, and RCB completed the chase in 6.3 overs with 81 balls remaining. The result moved RCB to within one point of table leaders Punjab Kings.
Josh Hazlewood was awarded the Player of the Match for his four wickets for 12 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled 3 for 5 in three overs. Their bowling helped the Delhi Capitals get to a low score in the first half of the innings.
Powerplay Carnage: Delhi Capitals Set Unwanted IPL Record
RCB’s captain Rajat Patidar chose to bowl first. Sahil Parakh was dismissed for a duck in the first over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. In the second over, Hazlewood dismissed KL Rahul, caught behind. Sameer Rizvi was dismissed for a duck in the next over. Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel & Nitish Rana were also dismissed in the first six overs.
Delhi Capitals were 13 for 6 at the end of the powerplay. This was the lowest powerplay total in a completed IPL game. The early wickets restricted the scoring opportunities and put pressure on the batting team for the rest of the innings.
Lower Order Rescue Act Keeps DC Above Lowest IPL Score
After the early loss, Abishek Porel was brought in as a game-changer. He scored 30 runs in 33 balls. He was the only player to score more than 20 runs for Delhi Capitals. David Miller scored 19 runs from 18 balls. The pair put on 35 runs for the seventh wicket, the highest of the innings.
Hazlewood later bowled Porel with a yorker. The last three wickets were taken without much resistance. Delhi Capitals were dismissed for 75 in 16.3 overs, just missing the lowest IPL score. Suyash Sharma bowled 1 for 7 in four overs. Krunal Pandya also claimed a wicket.

Kohli Hits 9,000 IPL Runs as RCB Finish Chase
RCB began their chase of 76 runs well. Jacob Bethell hit 20 runs off 11 balls before being caught by T Natarajan off Kyle Jamieson. Following the first wicket, Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli chased the remaining runs without losing any more wickets.
Padikkal was unbeaten on 34 from 13 balls, with three fours and three sixes. Kohli was unbeaten on 23 and ended the game with back-to-back sixes. Kohli became the first player to score 9,000 runs in the IPL during the match.
RCB chased the target in 6.3 overs with nine wickets remaining. The victory boosted their net run rate and they are now second in the points table, behind Punjab Kings. Delhi Capitals must improve their batting and consistency in the remaining games of the IPL.
