India Women continued their unbeaten run at the Women’s T20 Asia Cup after beating Bangladesh Women by 40 runs in the first semi-final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 10, 2026. The result sends India into their sixth final in six editions of the tournament.
Shafali Verma’s 64 anchors India’s total
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first on a slow surface. Shafali Verma made the most of the conditions as she scored 64 off 40 balls with seven fours and three sixes. She survived four separate chances, on 6, 11, 50 and 56, before Bangladesh substitute fielder Farjana Easmin finally caught her at long-on.
Marufa Akter troubled Shafali early with her inswingers and a sharp legcutter, while offspinner Sultana Khatun created two chances in her opening over alone. Pratika Rawal added 20 off 24 balls, and Harmanpreet Kaur, who managed only three runs off her first 15 balls, recovered to finish unbeaten on 24.
Richa Ghosh scored 21 off 16 balls, and Deepti Sharma made 13 off six deliveries in the closing overs, which helped India reach 149 for 6 in their 20 overs. Sultana Khatun finished with figures of 2 for 30.
Deepti Sharma’s three wickets stall Bangladesh’s chase
Chasing 150, Juairiya Ferdous and Dilara Akter gave Bangladesh a measured start as they hit two boundaries apiece inside the first three overs while the scoring rate stayed low. N Shree Charani struck in the final over of the powerplay and removed Ferdous; it was her 50th T20I wicket.
Deepti Sharma then dismissed Dilara Akter, caught at cover by Kranti Gaud, before bowling Sobhana Mostary after she and Nigar Sultana had added 31 runs for the third wicket. Prema Rawat had Nigar Sultana caught in the short third man region.

Deepti returned to bowl Sharmin Akhter and reduced Bangladesh to 83 for 5 in the 16th over. Nandani Sharma cleaned up the tail as she dismissed Fahima Khatun and Rabeya Khan in the final over. Shorna Akter stayed unbeaten on 22 as Bangladesh finished on 109 for 7. Deepti Sharma ended with figures of 3 for 26 from her four overs.

Fielding lapses on both sides fail to change the outcome
Both teams dropped catches throughout the match. India put down four chances during Bangladesh’s innings, which included drops by Pratika Rawal at cover-point and backward point, a misjudged attempt by Smriti Mandhana, and a mid-air collision between Richa Ghosh and Nandani Sharma near square leg.
Despite these errors, Bangladesh lacked the firepower to threaten India’s total once the required rate climbed. Shafali Verma was named Player of the Match for her innings, and she also topped Cricinfo’s MVP list for the game with 86.4 points.
India will now play in the final of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. This extends their record of reaching the summit clash in every edition since the tournament’s inception. Bangladesh’s campaign ends at the semi-final stage, with their batting struggling for timing against India’s spin attack through the middle overs. The result keeps India’s dominant record in the competition intact heading into the final.
