SRH posted 242 for 2 and then restricted DC to 195 for 9, winning by 47 runs. Abhishek Sharma batted through the full 20 overs for the first time in his IPL career and finished on 135 not out off 68 deliveries. The knock was built on aggression balanced with surprising restraint, and it moved him firmly to the top of the batting charts.
Abhishek now has 323 runs in seven matches this season, displacing his SRH teammate Heinrich Klaasen from the top of the Orange Cap table. Klaasen sits second with 320 runs.
This was Abhishek’s ninth T20 hundred, drawing him level with Virat Kohli for the most centuries by an Indian in T20 cricket. Only three players in the world have more T20 hundreds than him. He also equalled his own record for the most sixes in an innings by an SRH batter, hitting ten, and this innings became his second entry in the top five IPL scores of all time.
Shubman Gill of the Gujarat Titans holds third place with 265 runs from five matches, while Virat Kohli is fourth with 247 runs from six games. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals rounds out the top five with 246 runs.
Malinga’s Four-Wicket Haul Pushes Him Into Purple Cap Contention
Abhishek was a master of the bat, but Eshan Malinga was a master of the ball. Malinga had four wickets against DC and finished with 4 for 32, which was the key figure in the fall of the Delhi chase.
The four-wicket haul took Malinga to second place on the Purple Cap table, where he now has 12 wickets from seven matches. He sits just one behind CSK’s Anshul Kamboj, who leads with 13 wickets from six games.
Malinga now has 21 wickets after the tenth over across his 14 IPL matches since debuting last season. Among fast bowlers in this period, only Prasidh Krishna has taken more. Prasidh currently occupies third on the Purple Cap list with 12 wickets from six matches.

SRH Climb Table as DC Pay the Price
The win moved SRH level with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals, though both those sides have a game in hand. It was their third consecutive victory, a run of form built on contributions from across the squad.
Ishan Kishan contributed 25 off 13 balls, and Klaasen smashed 37 off just 13 deliveries to push SRH past 240. For DC, Nitish Rana top-scored with 57 but was expensive with the ball, conceding 55 runs in his four overs as an offspinner.
SRH are gaining serious momentum for the title, and with Abhishek playing in such a fashion and Malinga, always able to take a wicket at the right time, their threat is only increasing.
