UAE Set to Host Women’s Asia Cup 2026, ACC Announcement Awaited

UAE Set to Host Women's Asia Cup 2026: ACC Yet to Confirm

The Women’s Asia Cup 2026 will likely take place in the UAE from August 28 to September 13. The Asian Cricket Council has not formally confirmed the tournament yet, but participating boards have already received informal word to block those dates on their calendars.

Eight Teams Set For Sixth T20 Asia Cup Edition

This edition marks the sixth staging of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. Sri Lanka enter as defending champions and will face seven other sides: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, and hosts UAE. The ACC has kept the schedule, venue details, and match dates under wraps so far. Leadership approval remains pending before any official rollout happens. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi currently leads the ACC, and his sign-off is expected to trigger the formal announcement.

Boards across the region have grown restless waiting for clarity. Travel arrangements and logistics planning depend heavily on a confirmed schedule, and teams cannot finalize squads or bookings without one. That uncertainty already caused a minor slip-up over the weekend.

BCCI Squad Leak Points To Growing Impatience

On Sunday, the BCCI briefly published India’s squad for the tournament before pulling it down. The move came before the ACC had made any official confirmation, suggesting boards are working off internal timelines even as the governing body stays quiet publicly. It also hints at how close the tournament dates actually are to being locked in — teams wouldn’t be naming squads otherwise.

An email sent to participating boards on July 22 gave a clearer picture of ACC’s internal planning. The message included the tournament logo and stated that a venue was being finalized. It also indicated the ACC expected squads to arrive by August 27, with the final scheduled for September 13. Despite this internal communication, no public statement has followed, leaving fans and even some team management guessing at specifics.

Asian Games Schedule Adds A Tight Turnaround

Timing matters here beyond just the tournament itself. Women’s cricket makes its return at the Asian Games this year, with matches scheduled in Nagoya, Japan, from September 17 to 24. That leaves barely a few days between the Asia Cup final and the start of Asian Games competition, a gap that will test travel logistics for teams involved in both events.

Players and support staff moving from a UAE-based tournament straight into an Olympic-style multi-sport event face a demanding stretch. Fitness management and recovery time will matter as much as form heading into Nagoya.

For now, the cricketing world waits on the ACC to make things official. Until that happens, teams will keep preparing based on the informal dates shared in July, hoping the eventual announcement doesn’t force last-minute changes. Sri Lanka will look to defend their title on a slate that includes two Full Member heavyweights in India and Pakistan, alongside associate nations chasing an upset. With qualification stakes and Asian Games preparation both riding on this tournament, boards want confirmation sooner rather than later.

The ACC’s silence hasn’t stopped preparations from moving forward. But a formal announcement, covering fixtures, venues, and broadcast details, remains the missing piece before fans and teams can plan with full confidence.
