Yastika Bhatia and Anushka Sharma will captain separate India A women’s cricket teams in the upcoming home series against Australia A from September 12 to October 2. The BCCI Women’s Selection Committee announced the appointments on 27 August 2026, with 25-year-old Bhatia being named captain for the One-Day and multi-day matches.
The committee has decided to hand over the captaincy of T20 to 23-year-old Sharma, who will also be Bhatia’s deputy in the longer formats. The home series will take place across New Chandigarh, Mohali and Dharamshala, which includes three T20 matches, three One-Day matches and a one-off four-day match.
Yastika Bhatia’s Leadership and Senior Ambitions
Yastika Bhatia received this leadership opportunity shortly after selectors left her out of the India squad for the Women’s Asia Cup. The left-handed batter recently played for India in the T20 World Cup before she missed the Asia Cup selection. Bhatia has represented India across all three formats. She recently made a successful return to the national side in May 2026 after recovering from an injury layoff.
Bhatia played in the historic Lord’s Test against England in July 2026. She became the first woman to score a Test century at Lord’s when she made a hundred in India’s second innings.

Anushka Sharma’s T20 Captaincy and Double Role
Anushka Sharma will captain the T20 squad. She will also assist Bhatia in the One-Day and four-day squads. Sharma, who made her T20I debut in April 2026, has already played three T20Is for the senior Indian team. She previously captained the India A T20 team to a 2-1 series victory against England A in June 2026.
Key Inclusions in the Squads
The selectors picked former India Under-19 captain Nikki Prasad in all three squads. Prasad earned her spot in the squads after she led the Hubli Tigers to the Maharani T20 title recently.
The T20 squad features Bengal batter Sujata Dey. The 22-year-old batter became the first woman to score a century in the Bengal T20 League in June 2026. The T20 squad also includes two seam-bowling all-rounders, Jintimani Kalita and Simran Dil Bahadur.
The committee selected 23-year-old left-arm wristspin-bowling allrounder Amandeep Kaur exclusively for the One-Day squad. This selection marks Kaur’s maiden India A call-up.
The committee selected four players exclusively for the one-off red-ball match. These players include Shubha Satheesh, Sushree Dibyadarshini, Shuchi Upadhyay, and Mamata Madiwala. Satheesh has already played two Test matches for the senior Indian national team.

Australia A Field Strong Squad with Three Captains
The visiting Australia A squad includes experienced international players. Fast bowler Darcie Brown joins the touring squad alongside Tayla Vlaeminck. Vlaeminck returns to representative cricket after a long injury layoff.
Australia A will use three different captains for the three separate formats. Nicole Faltum will lead the T20 side, Tahlia Wilson will captain the 50-over team, and Rachel Trenaman will lead the four-day team.
