Zimbabwe named a 15-member squad on Tuesday for the three-match T20I series against India, with uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga receiving his first call-up in the format.
The series begins in Harare on July 23, followed by matches on July 25 and July 26. Sikandar Raza continues as captain after leading the side through a strong run against Bangladesh last month.
Tsiga Gets His Chance, Madhevere and Nyamhuri Return
Tsiga has already featured in 10 Tests for Zimbabwe and now waits for his white-ball debut. Selectors picked him ahead of Clive Madande, who drops out of this squad. All-rounder Wessly Madhevere also returns, making his first T20I appearance since July 2025. He had been playing Tests and ODIs against Bangladesh and now steps back into the shortest format.
Fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri comes back too. An injury had kept him out of part of the Bangladesh ODI series, and he missed some matches during that stretch. Tanaka Chivanga, who filled in during Nyamhuri’s absence and impressed selectors, keeps his place in the squad. Tinotenda Maposa and Tashinga Musekiwa miss out this time around.
Raza’s leadership stays central to the group. He captained Zimbabwe to an innings victory in the one-off Test against Bangladesh and steered the team to a 2-1 ODI series win. Zimbabwe then lost the T20I series 2-1, but the overall tour marked one of their better recent results.
India Arrive as T20 World Cup Champions
Zimbabwe now face a far tougher opponent. India hold the T20 World Cup title and remain among the strongest sides in the format, despite recent series losses in Ireland and England. Those defeats came against fewer fancied opponents, but India’s overall squad depth and recent T20 record keep them favorites heading into Harare.
The two teams last met at the T20 World Cup, during the Super Eight stage, where India won by 72 runs. Zimbabwe had reached that stage after eliminating Australia in the first round, a result that surprised many. This series gives Zimbabwe a chance to test themselves again against a team that outclassed them on the biggest stage.

Zimbabwe Squad Announced for Home Series

The squad carries two wicketkeeping options in Marumani and Tsiga, giving the team flexibility depending on conditions and team balance. Muzarabani and Ngarava lead the pace attack, both experienced campaigners who have played key roles for Zimbabwe across formats in recent years.
Zimbabwe will look to their home conditions and crowd support as they attempt to trouble a full-strength Indian side. The series offers young players like Tsiga an early opportunity against top-tier opposition, while established names such as Raza, Madhevere and Nyamhuri return to bolster a squad aiming to build on its recent momentum against Bangladesh. All three matches will be played at the same venue in Harare over four days, giving both sides limited turnaround time between fixtures.
Zimbabwe’s full squad
