AFCON 2025 is getting ready, and you should, too. The final draw for the tournament has been completed in Morocco, and fans and players are excited to be part of the competition.
In the 2023 season, it was Ivory Coast who emerged as winners, while Nigeria went on to finish 2nd in the competition. As the groups and team list have come out, the excitement is slowly taking a peak.
Team Selection for AFCON 2025
As the fans were excited to see what’s coming, 24 nations found their fate and were ready to clash in the 2025 season. The complete list, schedule, and grouping came out on 27th January 2025.
Rabat will be hosting the finals, while 50 of the countries took part in the selection of the groups and finalizing the teams. The whole of the tournament will take place in 6 cities across the period of four weeks.

When Will AFCON 2025 Be Held?
Fans might be interested in knowing when the AFCON 2025 will be held. The last tournament took place in February 2023, and this tournament will be played on 21st December 2025.
The finals will be played on 18th January 2026, and it will take place in Rabat. Ivory Coast would be keen to make it to the finals and defend the title once again.
AFCON 2025 Tournament Format
Similar to all of the other seasons, the 2025-2026 will also have an intensified battle to talk about. 21st December marks the start of Morocco’s taking on Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
A total of 24 teams will be divided into 6 different groups of 4 teams each. The tournament will be a round-robin format of three matches in a group stage. The top 2 teams will be pushed to the next round.
With a total of 12 teams being selected for the knockout, the last 4 teams will be chosen based on the winners of matches of the 3rd place team. From there, there is a straight knockout format for selecting the ultimate champion.
