Spain, Portugal and Morocco have officially announced their joint bid for hosting the 2025 Women’s World Cup. Just after winning hosting rights for the 2030 Men’s World Cup, this trio is interested to host women’s biggest tournament in their home. Rafael Louzán, president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said “We want Spain to host the Women’s World Cup in 2035, together with Portugal and Morocco.”
The three nations have a strong football history which makes them a stronger candidate for hosting the 2035 Women world cup.
Why the Trio Wants to Host the 2035 Women’s World Cup?
Spain, Portugal, and Morocco want to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup to raise global awareness of women’s football. Rafael Louzán said hosting the tournament would help women’s sports gain more recognition and support.
“There is no better way to give visibility to women’s sports than by contributing to the world’s leading sporting event, a World Cup,” Rafael Louzán said.
The bid also helps the Spanish Football Federation rebuild its image after recent controversies and show their dedication to equality in sports.
Additionally, the joint bid brings together the strengths of all three countries. Spain and Portugal have strong football infrastructure while Morocco is investing in women’s football. These three have experience of hosting international events which makes them strong candidates. These three countries started their early preparation to convince FIFA that they were the best choice for hosting the 2035 Women’s World Cup.

How FIFA Will Select the 2035 Women’s World Cup Host?
The selection process of FIFA is slightly more competitive. FIFA has already confirmed Brazil as the host for the 2027 Women’s World Cup and decisions for 2031 and 2035 editions will be announced at FIFA’s 76th Congress in 2026.
Spain, Portugal and Morocco will submit their bid with detailed project proposals by April 2025. Later in the second half of 2025, FIFA will evaluate the bid and conduct on site inspection. Along with Spain, Morocco and Portugal, the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) and South Africa also have shown interest in hosting the 2035 Women’s World Cup.
FIFA rules only allow the countries from UEFA (Europe) and CAF (Africa) to bid for the 2035 Women’s World Cup. This joint bid from Spain, Portugal and Morocco fits well with FIFA Vision to expand football worldwide.
