The All Indian Football Federation (AIFF) and the Mohun Bagan Super Giants are at loggerheads due to the player’s call-up for the national team outside of the FIFA date.
In the AIFF vs MBSG stand-off, MBSG made it clear it would not release its players to join the national team camp outside of the official FIFA international window.

Super Giants emphasized that while they are fully supportive of the Indian national team, it cannot ignore international provisions.
FIFA only supplies coverage for injuries and salary reimbursements to players called up during official international windows, according to MBSG. Players who attend national duty for their country outside that window do not have these protections. Meaning if a player is injured, the player or the club is responsible for all injury-related expenses. On the basis of such a clause, AIFF was forced to take a backseat in the AIFF vs MBSG stand-off.
“The current call-up of the player is made outside of the official FIFA international window as recognized within FIFA’s statutes. FIFA does not provide injury protection or salary compensation for any player injury sustained while on national duty during this period,” MBSG stated in an official statement.
MBSG has asked AIFF to provide written consent that guarantees player’s protection in the event of any injury incurred outside of the FIFA window.
AIFF vs MBSG stand-off: AIFF Makes Amends
Despite many conflicting rumors, MBSG has reassured that it is not outright forbidding players from reporting to national duties.
The club stated that players are correctly entitled to report to camp starting November 10 (the official commencement of the FIFA international window). The AIFF vs MBSG stand-off seems to have been resolved subsequently after they decided not to call any players from the club to camp at this time.
