As the battle of Kalinga Super Cup 2025 heats up, the games have been coming thick and fast. After winning over Kerala Blasters, Mohun Bagan has reached the semifinals of the tournament.
The first quarterfinal was a close encounter as Kerala came back with two goals behind, but the champion squad of Mohun Bagan was just too much to handle for Kerala. Let’s know in detail how the game panned out.
Domination of Mohun Bagan
The game started with the domination of Mohun Bagan. The team looked much stronger compared to Kerala Blasters. However, the game wasn’t a one-sided affair.
Mohun Bagan scored the first goal in the 22nd minute, all thanks to a brilliant pass from Salahudheen Adnan, who passed the ball to Sahal Abdul Samad, who found the net.
Goalkeeper Sachin Suresh had no chance, as the kick from Sahal oversaw Ruivah Hormipam and found the back of the net. Kerala did try to come back with efforts from Noah Sadaoui and Mohammed Aimen, but that was not to be.
The professionalism of Mohun Bagan was on show as Suhail Bhat scored the second goal. Ashique Kuruniyan went past Hormipam and presented an inch-perfect six-yard box kick to Suhail, who finished the job beautifully.

Kerala Blasters Tried Hard
Not that it wasn’t an easy win for Mohun Bagan, as the team had to fight the odds. Kerala Blasters tried hard and tested both the defense and goalkeeper of Mohun Bagan.
Typically, Jesus Jimenez and Kwame Peprah tried their level best to get beyond Mohun Bagan’s goalkeeper Dheeraj, but they could hardly. Sreekuttan MS did try his best by returning one goal in injury time, but that was it.
The single goal return from MS wasn’t enough, and the winners of the ISL League Shield and Cup were able to advance to another semifinals.
Mohun Bagan, FC Goa Advance to Semis with Gritty Quarterfinal Wins
Mohun Bagan has now reached the semifinals, setting up a clash against FC Goa. FC Goa too had won the quarterfinal game against Punjab FC, but in a very late comeback.
The match between the two took place on 26th April, whereby Goa slightly edged out Punjab. Goa was behind in the game, but the dying moments saw the skills of Borja Herrera and Mohammad Yasir, which turned the game on its head.
Punjab FC first scored the goal in the 56th minute. It was Hrithik Tiwari who scored the first goal. This didn’t impact the hopes of Goa, but they fought harder.
Substitutions of Ayush Chhetri and Alan Saji meant that Goa would run the game and run it quickly. It was in the 88th minute that Brison Fernandes missed a ball, and Borja didn’t.
It was in the last few seconds of the game that a miss from Paramveer Singh found the waiting Mohammad Yasir, who didn’t miss the moment. The ball deflected off Filip Mrzljak, and the destiny will be played against Mohun Bagan next Wednesday.
