Not long ago, on February 2nd, the Pakistan football team was banned from being part of the FIFA-organized matches, due to politics that was involved in Pakistani football. But good news has come along recently.
FIFA lifts Pakistan’s ban on football following the necessary constitutional change that has been made for smooth governance of football in the country. There is much more detail that gets followed with this ban.
History of FIFA Ban on Pakistan Football
If the readers are thinking that this is the first time Pakistan has been banned from football, you are mistaken. In the past, too, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has encountered such an issue.
The major reason for the ban was the involvement of a third party in running football in the country. Previously, 2017 and 2022 were the years when FIFA had suspended the PFF.
In 2022, the ban on PFF was lifted for the first time, and the Pakistan Football Federation was provided full control of the premises and finances.

Views Of FIFA and PFF After Ban Lift
FIFA, after lifting the ban, released a statement. They said that the bureau of FIFA Council has decided to release the suspension that was imposed on PFF.
On the other end, PFF took it to X and shared their joy. They wrote, “We thank FIFA and AFC for the continued support and growth of Pakistan football and we also thank the Pakistani football community.”
Along with sharing the joy of Pakistan football coming back to its feet, they also had other news. PFF reappointed Stephen Constantine as the coach of the team.
Stephen helped Pakistan with their first World Cup qualifying round win in October 2023, against the likes of Syria. Fans and the Pakistan Football Federation hope for similar outcomes in the future.
What Next For Pakistan Football Team?
On 2nd February 2025, the Pakistan football team was banned by FIFA. It only took them over a month to get the ban revoked, and also be allowed to play the game. Their ban was lifted on March 3, 2025.
Now, with new energy and interest to make an impact, Pakistan is preparing for The AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.
The tournament is all set to take place in 2027, and the team will be facing up against Syria in the Group E opener. On 25th March, the particular fight of the Asian giants will take place.
If Pakistan is able to win this game, then they will have a better and stronger possibility to play in the AFC Asian Cup.
