Real Madrid dropped the big news of signing the 17-year-old Argentine midfielder for a whooping €45 million, surpassing the record for outgoing transfer for the Argentine club. As reported by TNT, Mastantuono will join the La Liga team on 14 August 2025 till 30th June 2031 when he turns 18, meaning he will compete in this month’s Club World Cup for River Plate.

Under his contract with Madrid, the 17-year-old footballer will stay at the Santiago Bernabeu until 30th June 2031.
According to Goal, Mastantuono’s priority was always Madrid. He preferred to move to Spain and play for Madrid over France. He loved the iconic white jersey and had his heart set on Madrid from the very beginning of his career.
Mastantuono is now Madrid’s third signing of the summer, joining England’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Spain’s Dean Huijsen.
Fans are eager to see how Mastantuono shines with the team. But wait, he will not join the team promptly. Fans have to keep patient; Mastantuono will officially be available to play starting August 14, when he turns 18.

Franco Mastantuono By the Numbers: Key Career Stats!
Born and raised in Azul, Argentina, Franco Mastantuono was born on 14th August 2007. Though he was initially interested in playing tennis and completed a national level as well, before, he switched his interest to football. He came through River Plate’s youth academy, ultimately making his senior team debut for the team in 2024.
As of June 2025, he played overall 45 matches and scored 5 goals for River Plate. He was the River’s youngest-ever goalscorer and second youngest player to score in a Superclásico.
At the international side, Mastantuono was called up by the Argentina national U-17 team when he was fifteen in 2022 by manager Pablo Aimar. Further, he played 12 matches for the U-20 team.
At the 2026 World Cup qualifying game against Chile, the attacking midfielder/right winger made his international debut in a 1-0 win, also becoming the country’s youngest player.
