Kylian Mbappé fired a brace as Real Madrid cruised to a 4-0 preseason win over WSG Tirol in Innsbruck, Austria. Éder Militão opened the scoring early, Mbappé doubled the lead minutes later and added his second after the break.
Rodrygo sealed the rout late on. New signings Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Álvaro Carreras started, while Arda Güler dazzled with creativity, hitting the woodwork twice and assisting Mbappé. The clash marked Madrid’s only official friendly before their LaLiga opener against Osasuna.
Lightning Start in Innsbruck
Real Madrid wasted no time flexing their muscles against Austrian side WSG Tirol. The Tivoli Stadion Tirol crowd barely settled when Éder Militão rose highest in the 10th minute to glance in a header from a set piece.
Just three minutes later, the inevitable happened, Kylian Mbappé, Madrid’s goal machine, latched onto Arda Güler’s clever through ball and calmly slotted home to double the lead. The opening quarter was Madrid in full flow, sharp passing, pressing like a pack of wolves, and exploiting every inch of space.

Mbappé’s Double and Güler’s Brilliance
After the break, Madrid kept being in charge like it was all about them. In the 59th minute, Aurélien Tchouaméni made a great pass through the defence, letting Mbappé run free and score his second goal of the night.
Arda Güler showed great skill and imagination. Twice, he hit the goalpost, making the crowd gasp each time.
His connection with Mbappé was smooth and natural, almost like they could read each other’s minds, giving fans an exciting glimpse of the season to come. Mbappé almost got a hat trick in the 71st minute, but the Tirol custodian was strong.
The French player helped Rodrygo in the 82nd minute with a nice pass, and the Brazilian scored to make it four.
[TRENDING] New Signings Fit Right In
Xabi Alonso picked three new players from summer in his starting team. Trent Alexander-Arnold fit in well, sending accurate long passes from far back.
Dean Huijsen was confident in defence, and Álvaro Carreras brought a lot of energy to the side. Madrid stayed close together, with Tchouaméni leading the midfield changes and Güler adding some exciting play.
The team showed that even with not much practice before the season, they are getting in sync fast.
Final Preparations Before LaLiga
This fight was more than just a workout, it was a message. Madrid started training again on August 4 after their FIFA Club World Cup games in the United States.
This was their only friendly match before playing Osasuna in their LaLiga opener on August 19. The 4-0 win checked all the preseason boxes: good attacking plays, solid defence, and boosting confidence for new players.
Mbappé got another reminder that he can still score a lot, with 45 goals in all games now possible for the next season.
Amit Mishra’s Thoughts
This match was Madrid’s way of planting their flag before the season even kicks off. Mbappé’s chemistry with Güler was like poetry in motion, a promising sign that Madrid’s attack might be more dangerous than last year.
If this performance is any indication, Osasuna could be the first of many victims in what might be a relentless title charge.
