In the Group H opening match of the AFC League 2, between Kaya FC-Iloilo and Tampines Rovers FC, the midfielder Trent Buhagiar led his team to victory with his stellar two goals in the 46th and 72nd minutes of the game. Along with him, Rovers’ Yoshimoto also scored a goal in the 52nd minute, sealing the match 3-0 at the end of the whistle. With the win over Kaya FC-Iloilo, Rovers are in the first position, standing with three points having only played one match.

A dominating performance was witnessed in the opening match of Group H in the AFC League 2 between Kaya FC-Iloilo and Tampines Rovers FC, as Rovers bagged three points following the 3-0 score at the end of the final minutes of the game. Held at the Pathum Thani Stadium on Thursday, Tampines Rovers displayed their dominance from the very opening whistle.
They pressed the opponents throughout the first half of the game and were seen using the quick pass and possession to stretch the Philippine club’s defense. Despite keeping pressure till the first half, they were not successful in scoring a goal.

The first breakthrough came in the 46th minute of the game when Trent Buhagiar calmly scored down the right wing into the box. Following the goal, the visitors were confident and continued pressing Kaya FC’s goalkeeper. Tampines Rovers’ midfield had control of the ball, and Kaya FC could not get any rhythm, which led to Tampines Rovers scoring the goal in the 52nd minute. Takeshi Yoshimoto gave another lead to the team, almost confirming the win over Kaya FC.
However, the third decisive goal was again scored by Trent Buhagiar as the fast-paced retaliation took Kaya FC by surprise, and a perfectly timed goal left the scoreboard at 3-0. Nevertheless, regardless of the result, Kaya FC did not stop and produced a few half-chances, which did not help them score.
Following the 3-0 win, Tampines Rovers FC started their AFC League 2 campaign with three confident points and marched further in the tournament. Meanwhile, it was a humbling experience for Kaya FC since they had a lot of areas to improve.

For a football fan like me, it was an exciting match between Kaya FC-Iloilo and Tampines Rovers FC in the AFC League 2, as I got to witness the pure dominance from the very beginning of the game. The early lead of Rovers certainly gave them the confidence they were seeking, which then resulted in an additional two goals. Despite Kaya FC creating some chances, they were unable to convert them into goals, so it would be interesting to see how they will approach their next fixtures.
With this, Tampines Rovers has 3 points, while Kaya FC is at the bottom of the table with zero points in the AFC League 2.
