Indian shuttler Abhinav Thakur has made Indian badminton proud by winning bronze at the Thailand International Badminton Series 2025 in Nakhon Ratchasima. He was the only Indian medalist, defeating top seed Tan Jai Jie before losing in the semifinals to Indonesia’s Christian Adinata.
According to The Tribune India, this follows his recent bronze at the Senior Nationals and silver at the Senior National Team Championship, pushing him closer to his 2029 Olympics dream.

The major turning point during the pre-quarterfinals was when he defeated Malaysia’s top-seeded Tan Jai Jie in a thrilling third set that ended (21-16, 9-21, 24-26). He defeated Tanawat Yimjit (27-25, 21-14) of Thailand with a powerful attempt in the quarterfinals.
Despite losing to Indonesia’s Christian Adinata in the semifinals, Abhinav left with a bronze medal around his neck making it a proud day for Indian badminton.

The Journey to the Bronze
Abhinav’s years of commitment was evident in his performance in Thailand. Starting his badminton journey at a very young age, he left home at 12 to train seriously.
