India’s Krishna Nagar claimed two bronze medals at the BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2026 in Bahrain. Nagar’s two bronze medals — one in Men’s Singles SH6 and another in Mixed Doubles alongside Nithya Sre contributed to a broader Indian medal haul in the championship.
Krishna Nagar Secures Bronze in Men’s Singles SH6
One of the shutter’s bronze medals came from Men’s Singles SH6. Nagar entered the tournament as the defending champion in the Men’s singles SH6 category, making him one of India’s most-watched competitors at the 15th edition of the BWF Para Badminton World Championships, held from February 8- 14 in Manama, Bahrain.
His path to the bronze medal was not straightforward. The defending champion reached the semi-final after a fighting three-game win over China’s Lin Naili, the same opponent he had beaten in the 2024 World Championship final.
The three-game victory underlined Krishna’s resilience and ability to grind through difficult matches, but he could not replicate that result in the semi-final, where defeat ended his hopes of defending the title.
In para badminton, there is no bronze medal match in most categories — both losing semi-finalists are awarded bronze, meaning Krishna Nagar’s win over Lin Naili secured his place on the podium. The bronze marked his third World Championships medal overall, having previously won bronze in 2019 and gold in 2024.

Mixed Doubles Bronze Adds to India’s Tally
The second medal for Krishna and two medals for India in mixed doubles were confirmed by two pairings — Chirag Baretha and Mandeep Kaur in the SL3-SU5 category, and Krishna Nagar and Nithya Sre in the SH6 category. For Krishna and Nithya Sre, the bronze came via a semi-final loss, as para badminton awards medals to both losing semi-finalists without a separate bronze medal play-off.
For Nithya Sre, the Mixed Doubles bronze complemented a strong overall campaign at the championships, where she was one of only three Indian women, alongside Manisha Ramadass and Thulasimathi Murugesan, to reach the women’s singles semi-finals. Her performances across two disciplines made her one of India’s standout performers in Bahrain.
Krishna Nagar Speaks on His Achievement
Reflecting on his performance in Bahrain, Krishna Nagar stated the championship is a test of character and preparation while remaining motivated to work harder and return stronger.
“Every World Championship is a test of character and preparation. I am proud to bring home two medals for India. While I always aim for gold, these performances motivate me to work harder and come back even stronger. Representing the country on this stage is always an honour,” he said.
